About The Role

Hi, I'm Colin Sproule, a Senior Design Manager at Jane. I've been here for three years, and I get to work alongside an incredibly thoughtful group of designers who care deeply about creating intuitive and delightful experiences.

Our Design team exists to help practitioners focus on what they love most - helping their clients - by removing friction and making complex work feel simple. On the JaneX team, that mission shows up in one of the most consequential spaces in our product: the full clinical encounter. We own everything a practitioner does before, during, and after a patient visit - chart entries, templates, treatment plans, supervision, private notes, and AI Scribe. The complete arc of how a practitioner captures and delivers their clinical work.

On a more personal note, I live on BC’s upper Sunshine Coast. When I’m not thinking about design, you’ll usually find me biking, making experimental music, playing tabletop games, or reading small-press comics. If you’re curious to learn more about my background, you can find me on LinkedIn here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/cawlin/

JaneX is an ambitious, diverse team with a real track record of innovation. We brought Jane's first AI feature - AI Scribe - to general market, and we're just getting started. The work you do will directly shape how practitioners document care, how confident they feel doing it, and whether the tools we build make their hardest days a little easier.

What Impact We're Looking For You To Make
  • Design documentation experiences that help practitioners stay focused on their patients - reducing friction across chart entries, templates, treatment plans, and AI-assisted workflows so that the clinical encounter feels effortless and human.

  • Advocate for customers by grounding every decision in thoughtful research, clearly representing practitioner needs, and keeping the team focused on solving real problems rather than shipping features.

  • Lead with clarity by aligning stakeholders, communicating the reasoning behind your work, and using strong storytelling to bring cross-functional teams along on the journey from problem to solution.

  • Deliver consistently high-quality design outcomes by iterating on real-world usage, holding a high bar for craft, and building experiences that earn trust and create genuine delight over time.

What Experience We Need
  • 5+ years of product design experience in a SaaS or similar environment, with a portfolio that demonstrates clarity, craft, and intentional decision-making across complex workflows.

  • Proven experience designing AI-powered experiences that feel trustworthy, transparent, and human-centered - you understand how to make intelligent features feel approachable, not intimidating.

  • Strong systems thinking skills with a track record of designing across interconnected workflows, not just isolated screens or features.

  • Experience leading user research and translating insights into product decisions that drive measurable improvements in outcomes and experience quality.

  • Fluency with modern design tools and a comfort working in iterative, collaborative environments where things move fast and the problems are rarely fully defined.

If you don't meet every single qualification but are excited about this role, we'd still love to hear from you.

Compensation & Benefits

At Jane, we’re committed to paying fairly, clearly, and above all, paying for growth. This role has an annual salary range of $115,200 to $180,000. While that is a large range, it is intentional. It reflects the full growth journey someone might take in the role, from developing skills early on to becoming highly proficient and ultimately achieving excellence.

Most new hires join at the accomplished stage, which for this role represents an annual salary of $136,800. A starting salary below this typically indicates a candidate with strong potential who is still developing key skills. Salaries above this usually apply to existing team members who have made a significant impact and bring deep Jane-specific knowledge.

We believe in paying for growth. You’ll have regular career development conversations with your manager and your compensation will grow as you gain experience and contribute meaningfully to our mission.

Paying clearly is one of our compensation fundamentals. Watch this short video to learn how our salary bands are set. You’re also encouraged to ask questions about compensation at any point during the interview process.

We also offer a comprehensive benefits package. You can learn more about it here!
