Job Description:

The Senior Marketing Communications Consultant will report to the Director, Digital Investment Communications and lead all Sun Life Global Investments’ communications encompassing primarily an investment advisor audience.

What will you do?

  • Translate complex investment ideas and operational processes into compelling, audience- and media-appropriate communications and content
  • Develop, write and edit communications for a broad scope of investment-related messages, including regulatory changes, operational and process changes, product launches, renewals, and more
  • Collaborate with content stakeholders in different functions, including compliance, product management, sales etc.
  • Liaise with different digital publishing teams to plan, schedule and publish communications on time, considering turnaround times and service level agreements
  • Own the publishing of a monthly newsletter to advisors, working to ensure the proper segregation of advisor information and content to allow the dynamic publishing to deliver the correct messages to intended audiences
  • Participate in content ideas for advertising campaigns, unique headlines and story telling positioning
  • Identify optimal channels through which communications will reach targeted audiences. Coordinate with SMEs, leadership members and other stakeholders to ensure key messages are captured and communicated in an accessible way to meet compliance, legal and brand standards
  • Provide proofreading and editing support for diverse content

What do you need to succeed?

  • Exceptional writing/storytelling skills and demonstrated proficiency in writing for various audiences including institutional investors as well as intermediaries, investment advisors and their clients
  • Editing and proofreading experience
  • Good understanding and/ or interest in investment concepts across equity, fixed income, as well as capital market and macroeconomic trends
  • Proficient in data analysis to aid with storytelling
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of internal stakeholders and to convey credibility when working with investment professionals
  • Self-starter who can work independently and lead a project from idea generation to execution
  • Experience working for a complex organization and ability to work with multiple stakeholders and competing projects
  • Fluent in office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

What will be nice to have?

  • BA/BS required; a plus would be advanced degrees and/or investment related credentials such as the CSC, CIM, CFA etc.
  • 5-10 years of professional writing experience (ideally including some social media content experience) working for an asset management or other investment-related company

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
