What You’ll Be Doing
The Controllership group at CIBC has overall responsibility for producing valid, accurate, complete and timely daily, monthly, quarterly and annual accounting records (books and records) in support of reporting (statutory, regulatory and management).
As part of the Finance Controllership, the Senior Manager in the End-to-End (E2E) Process Review team is accountable for performing end-to-end review of each Banking business from source to general ledger and providing in-depth advice to our partners in the Front Office, Infrastructure groups (Operations and Risk), CFO and other Finance teams regarding control weaknesses, mitigations of operational risk and process improvement plans. The E2E Process Review team is part of the Controllership E2E Process Review program to address ongoing issues experienced in Banking business. The team is led by Finance and is a collaborative effort working with Operations, Business Management and Technology.
As the Senior Manager, you will assist in leading the process walk-through sessions with each business partner, mapping out the end-to-end processes, analyzing and reconciling the general ledger data with the source system data, providing an informed and independent recommendation to remediate control issues, and preparing the implementation plan. you will work with a team of professionals to prepare, review and analyze financial information to ensure quality and faithfulness of financial records. You will frequently interact with senior managements of different businesses and its supporting groups to discuss complex issues and document the findings. Review of maps and findings produced by junior members on the team. Coaching and supporting junior members of team through complex issues. Preparing presentations to be presented to the Business and upper Management.

You will liaise with Finance, Front Office, Operations and other stakeholder groups on accounting technology for new initiatives/processes to ensure efficient issue solutions.

Project Management - You have highly developed organization and prioritization skills in order to handle multi-tasking, balancing and prioritizing a number of projects, processes and problems given a work environment of increased expectations around control, service, and accounting transparency. You are a problem solver, self-starter, taking hands-on approach, able to deal with moderately complex finance issues.

Analytics Development - Lead analytics development projects with key stakeholders and business specialists.

Transformation – You strike to find the best solutions for the business. Participate in and drive continuous improvement and assist in development of new systems and processes in order to enhance the overall efficiency of the Banking businesses. You are proficient in one or more data analytic and automation tools, e.g. VBA, SQL, Java, Alteryx, etc.
Who You Are

You can demonstrate experience as an Accountant/Auditor/Consultant – demonstrating experience to advise on oversight over accounting functions supporting Banking Businesses. This includes enhancement of financial controls across multiple groups (FO, Operations/Back Office, Reconciliations, and Technology). You also have strong knowledge of IFRS and Financial Reporting requirements for Financial Instruments.

You are a Certified professional. You have current accreditation and good standing in CPA or 5+ years of relevant work experience. MBA, CFA, or certifications in Data Analytics would be considered an asset.
