Summary of Job:

The Senior Manager – Data Engineering for DealerTrack role is a conduit between the Data and Analytics team and the business product teams, sales teams and technical teams. This individual will be required to become very knowledgeable of the business needs and translate those needs to technical solutions in the context of data, BI and analytics. This individual will build a highly productive and successful team. Provide team leadership, team motivation, decision making and conflict resolution when needed. Manage tasks and delegation of tasks to team members. Create and present content to a variety of audiences, this can include but not limited to, executives, senior management, management, and staff.


Key Areas of Responsibility


Intake (request tickets): Manage, track, full fill all incoming requests (Kanban board)

- Conduct daily stand-up meetings to review, clarify, assign and update request tickets.

- Work with business to get clarity on the request and translate to a technical solution.

- Create and update tickets as needed. - Ensure all communications are tracked through tickets.


Business Opportunities: Work with the business product and sales teams to create new products and revenue streams as it related to data, BI, reporting and analytics.

- Meet with business to gather requirements. This may include reaching out to other business units.

- Putting together a proposal that includes but not limited to; complexity impact, time to deliver, financial impact, process creation/change impact, people impact, etc.


Architecture and Data Modelling: Working with Enterprise Architecture, provide consultation and delivery of larger initiatives.

- Architecture; architect, re-architect, design and solution. When needed, delegate to staff to deliver.

- Data Modelling; working with business to define requirements and deliverables, solutioning changes to databases, tables, data lake, etc.

- Create and update documentation, diagrams, process, procedures, etc.

- Provide Quality Assurance (QA) on delivered components.


Team Management: Build and lead a successful and productive team.

- Provide leadership and decisions to team.

- Task delegation, time management, career development of team.

- Team building, team meetings, and conflict resolution.


Reporting: Manage and maintain reporting capability for both external use and internal use. 

-Assist in preparation of requests from management around all sales operational metrics to deliver clear and concise reporting on specific areas of each business unit.

- QA all deliverables.

- Ensure all reports are being produced as schedule.

- Troubleshoot and resolve reporting issues.


Job Requirements: Please indicate if required (R), preferred (P) or asset (A)

· Post-secondary education in related field and/or 10+ years relevant work experience (R)

· Min. 5 years’ experience in a management/team lead role (R). · Advanced knowledge and use of Microsoft SQL, SSRS, SSIS (R) · Good understanding of workload management, schedulers, scalability and distributed platform architectures (R)

· Experience with high-volume, transaction processing software applications (R)

· Experience with Power BI and other Analytical Tools (R)

· Knowledge of Snowflake and MicroStrategy (P)

· 3+ years developing and supporting applications leveraging the Cloud technology stack (AWS, Azure, GCP) (P)

· 3+ of experience with data integration/ETL tools such as Databricks, DataStage or alternatives (P)

· Experience on handling data processing, delivering distributed and highly scalable application (P)

· Experience with building solutions in Cloud based environment (Azure, GCP experience preferred) (P)

· Experience with large scale domain or enterprise solution analysis development, selection and implementation (P)

· Experience on following tools: SQL, Scala, Python, Spark, Kafka, and other related languages (A)
