What You’ll Do:
The Senior Manager, Corporate & General Procurement will lead strategic sourcing and procurement operations for all corporate, functional, and general goods & services categories across Northland’s global business. You will be accountable for establishing and executing sourcing strategies, optimizing supplier performance, improving cost efficiency, and ensuring procurement excellence aligned with corporate policies, sustainability principles, and risk frameworks.
This role oversees end to end procurement for categories such as professional services, corporate technology and systems, facilities, travel, HR services, marketing/communications, legal, insurance support, and broader indirect spend.
You will partner closely with Finance, Corporate Services, Legal, Technology, HR, Communications and global business unit leaders to ensure sourcing strategies support corporate objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Category Leadership

  • Conduct enterprise-wide spend assessments to identify opportunities for synergies or to eliminate value leakage
  • Own market scanning, supplier segmentation, competitive events, and strategy development for high‑value service categories.
  • Develop and implement multi‑year sourcing strategies for enterprise‑wide corporate and indirect spend categories.
  • Optimize enterprise spend through commercial levers, contract negotiations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Procurement Governance, Policy & Risk Management

  • Ensure procurement practices align to Northland’s policies, systems and processes maintaining the highest ethical standards
  • Champion education of and compliance with Northland’s Procurement and Contracting Policy and Procedure, also with non-procurement stakeholders.
  • Lead activation, implementation and roll-out of procurement-essential functionality in corporate ERP module in close alignment with IT/OT and Finance functions.
  • Support implementation of contract administration and management protocols and systems.
  • Oversee contract development, review, negotiation, and risk mitigation consistent with corporate legal and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain procurement frameworks, tools, and policies to support operational excellence.
  • Contribute to the establishment of a standardised set of procurement and contract management documents suitable for corporate and general spend activities.

Operational Execution & Supplier Management

  • Lead day‑to‑day procurement operations for all corporate and indirect categories, including RFx processes, evaluations, supplier onboarding, and contract awards.
  • Effective management of strategic contracts and suppliers including but not limited to: development of contract management plans, establishing supplier KPIs, performance monitoring, and driving continuous improvement related to value, quality, and service.
  • Support business partners by delivering proactive procurement insights and tools to enhance spend management.
  • Function as the single point of accountability for supporting corporate and general spend globally.

Stakeholder Partnership & Cross‑Functional Leadership

  • Act as the senior procurement advisor to corporate and functional teams, building strong internal relationships with culturally diverse stakeholders across different regions and operating entities.
  • Collaborate closely with Legal, Finance, ESG, Technology, HR, Communications, and Facilities to align strategies and prioritize initiatives.
  • Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership on cost trends, market risks, and supplier innovation.
  • Work closely with a global pool of operational buyers to ensure consistency and seamless  delivery to internal stakeholders.
  • Manage and guide a corporate and general spend buyer on providing high quality, timely and enabling support to the business.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Significant experience in progressive procurement experience, with at least 5+ years in strategic sourcing or category management roles.
  • Experience leading procurement for corporate/indirect categories (e.g., IT, HR, professional services, facilities, corporate operations).
  • Proven negotiation skills and experience managing complex, high‑value service contracts.
  • Strong understanding of procurement governance, supplier performance programs, and risk frameworks.
  • Experience and familiarity with using and optimising Enterprise Resource Planning systems for procurement purposes (e.g. Workday) is a prerequisite.
  • Experience within energy, infrastructure, engineering, utilities, or other capital‑intensive industries considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and build procurement capability.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders of varying seniority and backgrounds.

Pay Range:

$124,800.00 - $156,000.00
