The Legal team plays a critical role in this journey by helping the business grow responsibly, manage risk, and unlock new opportunities.

We're looking for a talented and commercially minded Legal Counsel to support our rapidly growing Lockers business across Canada and the United States. This is an exciting opportunity to partner with business leaders, influence strategic initiatives, and contribute to one of Quadient's most dynamic growth areas.

Reporting to the Legal Director and Team Lead for Regional/Solution Counsel, you will serve as the primary legal advisor for the Lockers business in North America. You will work closely with Sales, Operations, Product, and Leadership teams, providing practical legal guidance that enables business success while protecting the company's interests.

You will also collaborate with legal colleagues across North America and globally on a broad range of initiatives supporting Quadient's continued growth and transformation.

What You'll Do

Commercial Contracting & Negotiation

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial agreements, including:
    • Locker hardware sales and leasing agreements
    • Installation, maintenance, and service agreements
    • Software and SaaS subscription agreements
    • Site access, landlord, and host-location agreements
    • Carrier, retailer, and e-commerce partnership agreements
    • Non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements

Business Partnership & Advisory

  • Provide day-to-day legal support to Sales and Operations teams.
  • Deliver clear, practical, and risk-based legal advice that helps drive business objectives.
  • Advise stakeholders on commercial, operational, and regulatory matters impacting the Lockers business.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the business.
  • Develop and deliver training to commercial and operational teams.
  • Support the implementation and evolution of company policies, processes, and governance frameworks.
  • Help ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.

Strategic Legal Support

  • Partner with senior leaders on complex business initiatives and risk assessments.
  • Contribute to legal department projects and continuous improvement initiatives across North America.
  • Collaborate with international legal colleagues to support Quadient's global operations.

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Qualified lawyer and member in good standing with a Canadian provincial or territorial law society.
  • 5 to 7 years of post-qualification experience, including significant commercial contracting experience.
  • Strong background negotiating and drafting complex commercial agreements.
  • Experience supporting real estate-related transactions and commercial arrangements involving hardware, leasing, installation, or service agreements.
  • Working knowledge of software and SaaS agreements.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, drafting, and negotiation skills.

Preferred Experience

  • In-house legal experience within a multinational or internationally operating organization.
  • Experience supporting operations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • U.S. legal qualification or experience working with U.S. business operations.
  • Experience managing disputes or addressing commercial collection/non-payment matters.

Language Requirements

  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
  • French language skills are considered an asset but are not required.

Travel

Occasional travel within Canada and the United States may be required.
