Senior Hardware Engineer (Systems)- Onsite Position

We’re seeking a passionate, hardware-focused Systems Engineer who thrives on solving complex system-level challenges and is driven to push the boundaries of mission-critical embedded technology at our world class facility in Ottawa, ON. Location: Ottawa, ON-Onsite Position

Salary Range: $86,900.00 - $136,900.00 plus bonus opportunity

Your Challenge:

You will drive the full systems engineering product lifecycle for development of rugged deployed systems for harsh environments. This includes:

  • Define low level system requirements such as functional module requirements, software requirements and requirements to external vendors

  • Architecting hardware/software solutions

  • Leading integration and test activities

  • Ensuring compliance with rigorous environmental and safety standards

  • Delivering innovative, reliable systems that perform under extreme conditions — all while thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

What you Bring:

Proven Systems Engineering Experience

  • Full-lifecycle systems engineering on rugged deployed systems for harsh environments (requirements, design, integration, verification, certification)
  • Development of electronic assemblies optimized for rugged environments and Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
  • Requirements management, traceability, and validation; ability to write clear, formal documentation

Technical Depth

  • Experience with DOORS and JIRA; working knowledge of Cameo a plus
  • Latest high-speed interconnects (Gen 3/4 PCIe, 40/100GbE, USB 3.x, DDR4/5)
  • PCB design (stack-up, materials, IPC standards)
  • Serial protocols: MIL-STD-1553, RS-422/485/232, 10G/100G Ethernet, PCIe, USB
  • Environmental & power standards: MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-810, DO-160
  • Safety-critical processes (DO-254, DO-178C, ARP4754, MIL-STD-882); prior FAA/RTCA certification experience highly valued
  • System safety analyses (SSA, FHA, FMEA) a plus

Hands-On & Problem-Solving Skills

  • Outstanding debug and troubleshooting of rugged computing systems (hardware, firmware, OS level)
  • Proficient across Windows and Linux environments
  • Scripting/automation experience (Python or similar)
  • - Cross-disciplinary awareness of electrical, mechanical, software, and manufacturing impacts
