The Role

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you will own end-to-end delivery across the full stack — from immersive frontend experiences to robust backend services and data pipelines. You will employ AI throughout the development lifecycle and help establish guidelines for AI-assisted engineering across the team. You will also contribute to building AI-powered advertising features, working with ML engineers to integrate LLM and agentic capabilities into eBay’s ad products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement innovative features for eBay sellers and advertisers to showcase their products and manage their advertising campaigns effectively.

  • Develop and maintain scalable, highly available user-facing applications and RESTful APIs.

  • Own end-to-end system design for complex, multi-service features — from technical design documents through implementation, rollout, and production monitoring

  • Lead architectural decisions across team boundaries, defining APIs, data models, and cross-service integration patterns that accommodate future scale

  • Design systems that evaluate trade-offs across reliability, performance, cost, and operational complexity; drive cross-team technical alignment on shared infrastructure and platform improvements

  • Use HTML/CSS, React, Node.js, Java, and Scala in system development

  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows throughout the engineering lifecycle — from code generation and debugging to automated PR reviews, test creation, and CI/CD optimization

  • Champion AI-augmented engineering practices across the team, driving adoption of tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and internal AI platforms to accelerate development velocity

  • Contribute to building AI-powered advertising features by collaborating with ML engineers on LLM integrations, recommendation systems, and intelligent campaign management capabilities

  • Learn and apply new technologies as needed, both from external sources and eBay's internal tech stack.

  • Participate in our internal open source community to share and collaborate on projects and codebases.

  • Commit to a continuous integration and deployment pipeline, ensuring smooth and quick releases.

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary Agile team to deliver incremental value to our customers swiftly.

  • Engage in technical discussions, contribute to decision-making processes, and share expertise with your colleagues.

  • Experience building scalable RESTful APIs and production web applications

  • Message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar)

  • Relational (Oracle/Postgres/MySQL) and NoSQL (Cassandra/MongoDB) databases — schema design and query optimization

System Design & Core Skills

  • Strong system design experience for distributed, high-traffic systems with a track record of evaluating trade-offs (consistency, availability, latency, cost) and driving technical alignment across teams

  • Ability to lead end-to-end design (technical docs, design reviews, architecture decisions)

  • Solid computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms)

Other / Tools & Practices

  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)

  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor)

  • Ability to build LLM workflows or automation powered by machine learning
