The Company

Torn Banner Studios is a Toronto, Canada-based independent game development studio founded in 2010. We first made our mark with Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, a multi-million copy selling title that redefined melee combat in gaming. Since then, we’ve continued to grow and innovate, releasing Chivalry 2 and, most recently, No More Room in Hell 2. Today, our team of around 100 developers is dedicated to creating unique, challenging, and fun gaming experiences.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engine Programmer to play a key role in developing and maintaining the core technology that powers our games. You will work with Unreal Engine, tackling technical challenges related to performance, stability, scalability, and platform support. • Collaborate with gameplay programmers and cross-disciplinary teams to develop creative technical solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve development workflows, tools, pipelines, and engine architecture.
  • Contribute to the stability, maintainability, and long-term evolution of the codebase.
  • Share knowledge through documentation, code reviews, and technical discussions.
  • Help foster a collaborative, positive, and quality-focused engineering culture.
  • Improve continuously the development practices, tools, and engineering processes.

Requirements

  • Experience developing with Unreal Engine 4/5 or with a similar proprietary Engine.
  • 5+ years of professional game programming experience.
  • Strong proficiency in modern C++.
  • Solid understanding of game engine architecture, software design patterns, and performance-conscious programming.
  • Experience profiling, debugging, and optimizing code for performance and memory usage.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership of technical challenges
  • Passion for continuous learning, research, and adopting new technologies.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Experience shipping games on PC and/or console platforms.

Bonus

  • Experience developing multiplayer games using dedicated server architecture.
  • Experience developing cross-platform titles.
  • Extensive experience with Unreal Engine.
  • Experience with physic programming
