About Mecka

Mecka AI is building the data infrastructure layer for robotics and embodied AI. We design and operate global systems for data capture, data labeling, and hardware-enabled workflows used by leading AI and robotics teams. Our operations span multiple countries, with contributors, partners, and customers across North America and Asia.

Our Mission

Robotics will become the largest industry in human history — larger than anything that has come before it. As intelligent machines move into the physical world, they will dramatically expand global GDP, raise the material standard of living for everyone, and ultimately help make humanity a multiplanetary civilization. None of that happens without one thing: enormous amounts of high-quality, real-world data.

Mecka AI builds that foundation. We are the data infrastructure layer for robotics and embodied AI — the substrate that teaches machines to perceive, reason, and act in reality. Get this right, and we accelerate the most important technological transition of our time.

Our Culture
  • Excellence as the baseline. We hold an extremely high bar and expect the best work of your career. Mediocrity isn't interesting to us.

  • Highly technical. We reason from first principles, not by analogy. The best argument wins — regardless of title or tenure.

  • Truth-seeking. We are relentlessly honest with ourselves and each other. We chase reality — measured, not assumed — and kill our own bad ideas fast.

  • Maniacal urgency. The work matters and the clock is real. We move fast, ship, measure, and iterate.

  • Extreme ownership. You own outcomes end-to-end — no hand-offs, no excuses, no waiting for permission.

  • Hardcore. This is a high-intensity environment for people who want to do the defining work of their lives.

The role

As the company scales, the embedded stack is the brains of the device and needs a senior owner. As Senior Embedded / Edge Platform Lead, you own our firmware and edge platform end to end — the architecture, where it's going, and the engineers who build it. You are the technical anchor for everything embedded: what the code is, how it performs, and how reliably it runs on a device that captures first-person data all day on a moving body.

You define the embedded test and diagnostics strategy that our Shenzhen-based production-embedded engineer hardens at the line, and you partner across electrical, camera software, and mechanical to keep the platform coherent.

Responsibilities
  • Own the firmware/embedded architecture for the capture device and its edge compute — the single source of truth for the design.

  • Drive firmware/silicon and firmware/hardware interface definition with electrical and camera-software teams, from early architecture through bring-up.

  • Own power management, thermal behavior, data-capture integrity, storage, and OTA update reliability.

  • Lead and grow the embedded team — mentoring engineers, setting standards, and owning code quality.

  • Define the embedded test and diagnostics strategy that the production-embedded team executes at the factory.

  • Own the embedded post-mortem loop, driving root-cause from field and factory back into the architecture.

Minimum qualifications
  • 8+ years in embedded software, including ownership of a full firmware stack on a shipping consumer device — ideally battery-powered, always-on, or wearable.

  • Deep expertise in embedded C/C++, RTOS or embedded Linux, drivers, and bring-up on custom SoCs — fluent across the bus stack (I2C/SPI/UART, USB) and lab debugging (oscilloscope, logic/protocol analyzer).

  • Strong grasp of power and thermal management and data integrity on constrained devices.

  • Experience setting embedded test and diagnostics strategy that caught issues before mass production.

  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers.

Preferred qualifications
  • Camera/sensor pipeline experience (MIPI/CSI, ISP, sensor bring-up).

  • Experience partnering with a factory-side embedded/test engineer across a time-zone split.

  • Background in body-worn, action-camera, or AR/VR devices.
