Job Summary

This role provides leadership for HOOPP’s member and employer growth strategy, defining priorities and enabling coordinated execution across the employer lifecycle, from prospective employer acquisition through onboarding and growth within the existing employer base.

The Senior Director is accountable for setting Pension Access & Growth strategy, identifying and prioritizing opportunities, and designing programs that expand pension access and member participation. The role works in partnership with Business Development to enable new employer acquisition and with Member & Employer Services to advance Pension Access & Growth Pension Access & Growth within the existing employer base through targeted strategies and executive engagement approaches.

The position also leads a team of professionals, fostering a high-performance, data-driven, and collaborative culture aligned to HOOPP’s Strategic Plan, with clear accountability for Pension Access & Growth outcomes.

What you will do:

1. Enterprise Pension Access & Growth Strategy & Prioritization

  • Define and lead HOOPP’s enterprise strategy for member and employer growth aligned to strategic priorities

  • Identify and prioritize target segments, market opportunities, and growth pathways (e.g., new employers, part-time coverage, mergers)

  • Establish growth objectives, metrics, and performance tracking

2. Prospective Employer Strategy (with Business Development team)

  • Define Pension Access & Growth strategy, segmentation, and value proposition for prospective employers

  • Enable Business Development with clear priorities, insights, and target segments

  • Support advancement of complex or strategic opportunities (e.g., large employers, mergers, sector expansion)

3. Pension Access & Growth Within Existing Employers (with Member & Employer Services teams)

  • Design strategies to increase participation of prospective members within existing employers, including expansion of part-time and underrepresented member groups

  • Identify and prioritize growth opportunities within the existing employer base

  • Enable Regional Services with approaches, tools, and programs to support consistent execution

4. Employer & Stakeholder Engagement Strategy (Pension Access & Growth Strategy)

  • Define enterprise approach to engagement with employer executives, unions, and key stakeholders in support of growth objectives

  • Partner with senior leadership and Member & Employer Services to advance strategic relationships with priority employers

  • Ensure consistent articulation of HOOPP’s value proposition across external engagement

5. Cross-functional Alignment & Enablement

  • Lead alignment across Business Development, Member & Employer Services, Product, Communications, and Government Relations

  • Design and implement coordinated growth initiatives, including messaging, tools, and supporting programs

  • Clarify roles, handoffs, and accountabilities across teams to enable efficient execution

6. Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

  • Set clear objectives and performance expectations aligned to growth priorities and enterprise goals

  • Develop team capability through coaching, feedback, and targeted learning strategies

  • Promote consistent messaging and understanding of HOOPP’s strategy, value proposition, and operating model across the team

  • Establish and monitor team performance standards and ensure delivery of business plan objectives

7. Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor growth performance and provide insights on outcomes, risks, and opportunities

  • Drive continuous improvement in growth strategies and execution approaches

  • Ensure decisions are informed by data and aligned with enterprise objectives

What you bring:

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with all levels of internal and external stakeholders; Ability to convey complex financial information in a clear and compelling manner

  • Strong leadership, experience managing people and conflict resolution skills working collaboratively within cross-functional work settings.

  • Results-oriented and strategic in the development of strategic and operational plans.

  • Ability to influence and negotiate up, down and across to successfully adapt to changes that impact the needs of the business

  • Ability to work cross-functionally in collaboration with multiple teams in achievement of common goals.

  • University degree in Business, Finance, Political Science, Marketing or related field.

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in pension industry or healthcare human resources.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior leadership role, ideally in the pension industry or Ontario health care human resources sector

  • Proven success in developing and executing strategies within the pension sector.

  • Industry knowledge a significant asset


The actual base salary offered to the successful candidate may vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, individual's expertise and level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered.  
This role is eligible to participate in discretionary incentive plan(s), subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan text.
