About ShyftLabs

ShyftLabs is a fast-growing data and technology company that partners with Fortune 500 and enterprise organizations to solve complex business challenges through cloud, AI, data engineering, and modern software solutions. We foster a collaborative, innovation-driven culture where talented professionals work on impactful initiatives that drive measurable business outcomes.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer who is deeply hands-on and ready to lead from the front. You'll own complex infrastructure across multiple internal projects, set the technical direction for DevOps, and be the person the team leans on to get things working in production. This is a role for a doer who leads by building, someone equally comfortable with their hands in Terraform, a broken deploy at 2 a.m., or guiding a small team toward the right technical call. You set the standard through your own work and lift the people around you while doing it.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Personally design, build, and operate the cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and underlying platform that our production, QA, and development environments run on.

  • Write the automation, IaC, and tooling yourself, including Terraform modules, deployment scripts, and glue code that removes manual work for the whole team.

  • Own reliability directly. Troubleshoot and resolve scalability, availability, and performance issues in live systems, catching and fixing problems before they reach customers.

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, keeping them fast, stable, and efficient, and integrate automated testing into them.

  • Stand up monitoring, dashboards, alerting, and log aggregation, then act on what they tell you.

  • Get hands-on with application developers to make deployments seamless, pairing on issues rather than just handing off runbooks.

  • Set technical direction for DevOps and drive it to adoption, making the architectural calls and defending them with working systems.

  • Mentor and grow the engineers around you by reviewing work, unblocking teammates, and raising the bar through hands-on guidance rather than distance.

  • Help shape team structure and priorities, and coordinate closely across engineering and with customers to keep delivery on track.

  • Evaluate and roll out new tools, technologies, and processes, proving them out in real systems rather than in slide decks.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of hands-on DevOps engineering, with a track record of things you personally built and shipped.

  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers, or owning the technical direction of a team or major project.

  • Deep, practical expertise in AWS EKS, GitLab CI/CD, and Terraform. You've operated these in production, not just touched them.

  • Extensive hands-on AWS experience across Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, ECS, Kinesis, and Kafka.

  • Fluent on the command line (Bash, Python) and comfortable writing your own automation and tooling.

  • Strong grasp of microservices architecture, container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS), and IaC methodology.

  • Proven ability to architect and scale infrastructure across multiple cloud platforms.

  • Working knowledge of Elasticsearch and log aggregation.

  • Excellent at documenting your own work clearly, and communicating decisions to both engineers and customers.

  • A self-starter and closer, someone who takes ambiguous problems and returns working, shipped solutions, and brings a team along with them.

Salary Range

  • $120,000 - $140,000 (CAD)
