About the Role

Hi, I’m Nakisa, Director of Engineering at Jane. I’ve been at Jane for just under three years, and I currently lead our Billing and Clinical Engineering group. Before Jane, I led engineering teams at Brex, Atlassian, and CA Technologies, and across all of those experiences one thing has stayed constant - I care deeply about building cohesive, high performing teams that solve meaningful problems for customers.

At Jane, our Clinical teams build and evolve the tools practitioners rely on every day to care for their patients. This role will lead the team currently responsible for Clinical Forms and integrating with e-prescription partner. This is a highly visible and strategic space for Jane, with real impact on how clinics deliver care across the US and Canada.

You’ll lead a team of experienced engineers and partner closely in a triad with Product and Design. Together, you’ll shape how we invest in medication workflows, patient intake forms, and the broader clinical experience. There is both mature product to support and evolve, and new discovery work to lead through ambiguity.

What makes this role especially meaningful is the balance - you’ll be thinking strategically about where we’re heading over the next year, while also ensuring we’re delivering high quality outcomes today. You’ll have the opportunity to influence beyond your team, raise the bar for engineering leadership at Jane, and help us thoughtfully productize emerging capabilities, including AI.

If you’re motivated by building empowered teams, navigating complexity with clarity, and delivering real impact for customers, I’d love to meet you.

What Impact We’re Looking for You to Make
  • Build and grow a high performing, senior team by creating clarity, fostering accountability, and developing engineers at every level - including Staff and Senior ICs - through thoughtful coaching and direct feedback.

  • Lead your team to consistently deliver meaningful customer outcomes in the clinical domain, balancing new product investment with technical health, operational excellence, and long term sustainability.

  • Show up as a strong triad partner by collaborating deeply with Product and Design, constructively challenging ideas when needed, and aligning on clear success metrics that connect technical decisions to customer impact.

  • Bring systems thinking to complex problem spaces by anticipating upstream and downstream impacts, managing change thoughtfully, and influencing across teams to de risk delivery.

  • Champion pragmatic and responsible AI adoption within your team by exploring opportunities to improve how we build and how our customers experience Jane, while maintaining a high bar for quality, security, and real world value.

What Experience We Need
  • 5+ years of engineering management experience, including leading senior engineers and owning complex technical domains or multiple teams.

  • Strong technical depth with the ability to engage in architectural discussions, coach on engineering best practices, and confidently represent technical tradeoffs in cross functional forums.

  • Experience operating in a fast paced, high growth SaaS environment where you’ve balanced strategic planning with hands on delivery and execution.

  • Demonstrated success partnering closely with Product and Design in a triad model, including advocating for technical investments and translating engineering work into customer impact.

  • Experience navigating ambiguity, driving change, and building empowered, accountable team cultures. Exposure to healthcare, regulated domains, or AI driven products is a strong asset.

If you don’t meet every single qualification but are excited about this role, we’d still love to hear from you.

More About Jane

Jane is a founder-led, high-growth SaaS company born in North Vancouver, British Columbia. We’re now a team of more than 700 people working remotely across Canada, the US, and the UK, united by our mission to help the helpers.

We build the products and tools that thousands of clinics rely on every day to run their businesses, care for their patients, and grow their communities. That level of impact means every person at Jane plays an important role in how we show up for our customers. We’re all responsible for being deeply connected to their needs, obsessed with improving their experience, and proud of the difference our work makes in their day-to-day lives.

Jane is growing fast, and that growth brings exciting challenges that call for adaptability, resilience, learning agility, and humility. We’re proud of what we’ve built and quick to admit what we don’t know yet. We listen, learn, and adjust as we go.

We’re also embracing the possibilities of AI, using it to work smarter, improve our systems, and create even better experiences for our customers and our team.

Our goal isn’t just delivery, it’s delight. We move quickly, communicate openly, and solve real problems together. If you’re energized by ambiguity, motivated by impact, and eager to learn with others, you’ll thrive at Jane.

Compensation & Benefits

At Jane, we’re committed to paying fairly, clearly, and above all, paying for growth. This role has an annual salary range of $190,400 to $309,400. While that is a large range, it is intentional. It reflects the full growth journey someone might take in the role, from developing skills early on to becoming highly proficient and ultimately achieving excellence.

Most new hires join at the accomplished stage, which for this role represents an annual salary of $226,100. A starting salary below this typically indicates a candidate with strong potential who is still developing key skills. Salaries above this usually apply to existing team members who have made a significant impact and bring deep Jane-specific knowledge.

We believe in paying for growth. You’ll have regular career development conversations with your manager and your compensation will grow as you gain experience and contribute meaningfully to our mission.

Paying clearly is one of our compensation fundamentals. Watch this short video to learn how our salary bands are set. You’re also encouraged to ask questions about compensation at any point during the interview process.
