Why is this role important?
The A/B Testing & Search Team has two primary missions:
To provide a trusted & reliable experimentation practice for the organization to leverage to enable data-driven decisions through experimentation
To empower our users to connect with the content they value by making discovery intuitive and seamless
As a developer of this team, you will have the opportunity to make direct contributions to the CBC.ca website and infrastructure. The work done to provide a reliable experimentation practice for the organization and to empower our users to connect with the content they value helps improve the ability for CBC to deliver amazing content to our audiences.
In this role you will be collaborating with:
Product teams developing content management systems;
Product teams developing content delivery systems;
Product teams that build machines to better utilize data;
Teams that build audience facing products;
Business intelligence and audience research analysts.
Content teams that want to improve packaging content to entice users to consume more content
Designers and Usability Specialists to pair qualitative and quantitative together

How you will make an impact:
You will improve the search experience on CBC products for our audience.
You will optimize the relevancy and delivery of search results through the CBC search engine
You will refine A/B testing workflows to accelerate experimentation and partner with other teams to drive data-driven insights.
You will influence other teams to adopt A/B testing by story telling the failures and successes as well as guide other technical colleagues in the department in their own A/B testing journey.
You will maintain high-quality standards of automation testing, perform manual testing and contribute to the existing code based on insights gained.
What you bring to our team:
The education: A Computer Science, Engineering degree or equivalent is preferred, but we know not everyone gains their programming skills this way. You have the knowledge and understanding of software development and testing best practices. You are passionate about learning new technologies and exploring innovative solutions.
The tools: Demonstrated experience working with JavaScript, TypeScript, the NodeJS runtime and the React.js framework.
You are proficient in working across the full SDLC, including using test automation frameworks such as Jest.
You possess hands-on experience working in a cloud and containerized environment using technologies such as OpenShift, Docker, and Kubernetes.
The collaborative Agile experience. You enjoy collaboration, pair-programming, and knowledge sharing.
You do your best work in a team-focused environment.
You believe in the Agile methodology, and you are flexible and open to change.
You thrive in iterative and incremental development.
Experienced in coding standards, quality engineering management, source code management, CI/CD pipeline (eg Jenkins), release management.
Nice to have:
Experience with implementing Conductrics or another A/B testing tool.
GQL, API development experience.
Experience with developing site search experiences to improve discoverability.
Search Engine Optimization understanding, including how performance metrics contribute to SEO.
Statistical math experience.
Experience building applications using ElasticSearch.
