Job Summary
Data and Analytics (DNA) team is looking for a PostgreSQL Database Administrator. The DBA will oversee the creation and maintenance of database & transaction processing environments for application testing, pre-Production verification, and production operation. You will provide technical support for transaction processing, data access, performance tuning, and database recovery. The Database Administrator will provide DBA services to a portfolio of applications across lines of business and across the whole RBC enterprise.
Job Description
What will you do?
- PostgreSQL SME on user access control, backup/recovery, database deployment, database maintenance, database monitoring/alerting, job scheduling/automation and database performance tuning.
- Provide DBA support in PostgreSQL for both public Cloud, private Cloud and on-premises.
- Working in database support initiatives on private cloud PostgreSQL, DBaaS (database as a service) PostgreSQL, Azure/AWS PostgreSQL.
- Setup/configuration and troubleshooting of database backup/recovery, database monitoring, database performance tuning, Security and other problem diagnosis.
- Monitor database performance during volume test and provide query analysis after the test.
- Working closely with application teams on Database design and DDL deployments to non-prod and production environments.
- Evaluating and testing new database features, documenting and presenting to team.
- Coordinating with multiple teams on projects.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
-
5+ years of experience in PostgreSQL.

Experience in Cloud database support.

Intensive understanding on database security, maintenance, backup/recovery, integrity, service tier, volume test and deployment process.

Good understanding on database provision automation, DBAAS, GitHub, Azure Kubernetes and deployment automation.

Great communication and coordination skills (verbal / written); Documentation

Able to work after-hours when needed and take on-call shift.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with Azure/AWS PostgreSQL, Azure/AWS SQL Server or Azure/AWS mySQL.
- Experience in GitHub, DBAAS pipeline or Kubernetes automation.
- Experience with availability zones, HA, DR solutions in the Cloud
- Experience in automation and scheduling of database maintenance and other database tasks
