Role Summary

The Senior Data Analyst, reporting into the Manager of Personalization Platform & Measurement, is expected to be an effective partner with our Client Engagement portfolio.  The successful candidate will assist in supporting key stakeholders through development and implementation of baseline reporting and uncovering data driven insights to drive/inform targeted strategies and initiatives. 

What will you do?

  • Ensure the accurate and timely completion of all baseline reporting, ad-hoc requests and project initiatives.
  • Operationalize reporting and related processes to monitor and assess the success of the campaigns
  • Work directly with business audiences to structure analytical problems and approaches, identifying the right questions to ask and structuring the appropriate analytical approaches in a way that business audiences understand
  • Conduct analyses that identify/assess business opportunities and address key business challenges.
  • Formulate and execute queries, with reports that clearly answer business questions related to engagement, fulfillment, lifestage purchase patterns, etc.
  • Enable leaders to make timely data-driven product, market-development, and distribution decisions.
  • Comply fully with all privacy, confidentiality, do not contact, SLF Code of Business Conduct, data security, and other requirements related to customer data.

What will you need to succeed?

  • 3 + years’ experience in a Data Analyst or Performance Analyst role
  • Advanced SQL Server / AWS Athena experience
  • Experience with visual analytics tools e.g. Tableau
  • Experience/exposure to Big Data tools (i.e. Hive, AWS/ Python)
  • Advanced Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Visual Basic
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen with an eye for detail and accuracy

  • Customer and results focused, with an ability to work with stakeholders to understand and act based on their needs, assess risks, and achieve a valued result 
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to operate in a matrix environment with complex tasks
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to break down high-level data into easily communicated information
  • In-depth prioritization, planning, and change management skills to stay within time/scope of a task in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable learning new applications and processes quickly with minimal direction
  • Proven client orientation, strong interpersonal skills

This role requires Reliability Security Clearance. In addition to a law enforcement inquiry and a credit check, as part of your application, the Government of Canada will ask if you lived or travelled outside of Canada for 6-consecutive months during the last 5 years, and you must account for all activities during this time.

    The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
