Senior Counsel, Investments - SLC Management
What Is in It for You:
Interested in developing your career with a great opportunity to join our SLC Management legal team and support our growing asset management and investment business? The SLC Management legal team is seeking a Senior Counsel for our Investments team. In this role, the successful candidate will provide strategic advice to SLC Management’s private fixed income investment team on interesting and complex financing transactions.
We are looking for a seasoned finance lawyer with relevant experience and technical expertise in negotiating private credit deals. We primarily support a sophisticated client base (SLC Management’s Private Fixed Income business) and are looking for a lawyer with business acumen and a relentless focus on the client experience and execution to join our dynamic SLC Management legal team.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Review and negotiate debt documentation, identify legal, structural and related risks in potential transactions, ensuring the documentation aligns with the understandings and expectations of the business. Sectors covered include corporate private placements, private asset finance, infrastructure/project finance debt, sponsor credit solutions, and specialty finance and securitization
Support private equity investments and negotiate the investment documentation, including side letters
Monitor and advise on applicable legal and regulatory provisions
Support other SLC Management projects and priorities
Oversee, direct and/or review the work of external counsel
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED:
A member in good standing with the law society of any province or territory in Canada, with a minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience at a law firm or in-house legal team
Experience in secured and unsecured financing transactions, project finance, structured finance, syndicated bank lending, commercial mortgages and/or asset lending
Bankruptcy, workout and/or investment management law experience would be an asset
Private equity investment experience would be an asset
American College of Investment Counsel membership would be an asset
