Banking is being reimagined—and customers expect every interaction to be easy, personal, and instant

We are building a universal banking assistant that millions of U.S. consumers can use to transact across all financial institutions and, over time, autonomously drive their financial goals. Powered by our proprietary BankGPT platform, this assistant is positioned to displace age-old legacy systems within financial institutions and own the end-to-end CX stack, unlocking a $200B opportunity and potentially replacing multiple publicly traded companies

Ultimately, our mission is to drive financial well-being for millions of consumers.

With over two-thirds of Americans living paycheck to paycheck, 50% holding less than $500 in savings, and only 17% financially literate, we aim to put financial well-being on autopilot to help solve this problem.

Role Overview

You will be the first in‑house attorney at Interface.ai, partnering directly with the CEO and leadership to shape legal strategy, streamline deal cycles, ensure regulatory readiness in the U.S. and India, and lay the foundation for future legal operations. You will own all commercial, employment, privacy and day‑to‑day corporate legal work while acting as the company’s single‑threaded legal advisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate customer, vendor, reseller and data‑processing agreements.
  • Advise People Ops on hiring, terminations, equity grants and multi‑state compliance.
  • Build and run privacy / AI compliance program (GDPR, CCPA, FTC).
  • Prepare board consents, maintain cap‑table and support financings.
  • Manage outside counsel on IP, litigation and insurance claims.

What You Bring

  • JD or LL.B.; active bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 8–15 years combined law‑firm and in‑house experience with a proven record as a ‘department of one’.
  • Deep expertise in SaaS commercial contracts, employment law, data privacy (GDPR/CCPA) and corporate governance.
  • Hands‑on experience managing outside counsel and cross‑border issues (U.S./India preferred).
  • Business‑first communicator who can translate legal complexity into clear, actionable guidance.
  • Comfort leveraging generative‑AI tools and prompt engineering to scale legal processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage prompt engineering and generative-AI tools (e.g., contract-clause extraction, automated redlining, rapid case-law research) to accelerate legal workflows and reduce turnaround time.

Why interface.ai

  • Be the single source of truth for all legal matters at a high‑growth AI start‑up.
  • Influence strategy at the C‑suite level while staying hands‑on with deals and compliance.
  • Build the legal function from scratch and see direct business impact.
  • Work in a culture of radical transparency and rapid innovation.
  • Competitive Package – Market‑leading salary + meaningful equity, comprehensive health benefits, unlimited PTO

Compensation

The base salary range for this role will be between $180,000-200,000. Final compensation will be determined by a variety of factors, including, but not limited to your location, skills, experience, education, and/or professional certifications. During the phone screening, your recruiter will provide the location-specific salary range for this role. Regardless of your personal situation or where you are in the world, Interface.ai offers comprehensive and great benefits programs to meet your needs:

  • 💡 100% paid health, dental & vision care
  • 💰 401(k) match & financial wellness perks
