What you’ll do:

The Senior Consultant, Enterprise Assortment Planning will act as a strategic bridge between corporate strategy, banner planning, and retail merchandising. You will help shape how our categories come to life for our customers, balancing retail viability with financial performance.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Insights & Recommendations: Translating customer shopping habits and business performance data into actionable merchandising strategies. Partnering closely with banner planning functions and merchant teams to optimize product assortments.
  • Assortment Framework Support: Helping refresh and evolve our category management and assortment frameworks to meet changing retail trends.
  • Category Guardrails: Collaborating with the Customer Strategy team to define and validate category guardrails (such as product breadth, depth, and pricing/assortment ranges) grounded in deep consumer insights.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Aligning merchandising, inventory, and enterprise goals to ensure our product choices truly address customer needs while protecting category profitability.
  • Monthly Performance Preparation: Assisting in preparing high-level visual and analytical materials for monthly performance reviews led by the CCO.

 

What you bring:

 

To thrive in this role, we are looking for a retail-minded strategist with a solid foundation in retail business principles, financial math, and a passion for retail merchandising.

  • Post-secondary university education, preferably in Business, Retail Management, Commerce, or Supply Chain Management.
  • 3+ years of experience in an assortment planning, retail buying, commercial strategy, or retail consulting role.
  • A strong understanding of Retail Math and financial key performance indicators (e.g., margins, inventory turnover, sell-through).
  • Demonstrated success managing cross-functional projects within a retail or consumer-goods environment.
  • Direct experience or a deep understanding of enterprise assortment planning principles within a retail organization is considered ideal.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with a proven track record of presenting recommendations to leadership.
  • Retail Acumen: A natural intuition for retail trends, customer behavior, and what makes a product assortment successful on the shelf or online.
  • Analytical & Insightful Mindset: Strong problem-solving abilities to spot sales trends, assortment gaps, and commercial risks using performance data.
  • Strategic Creativity: The ability to navigate ambiguity and help us make bold, customer-focused moves in a rapidly evolving retail landscape.
  • Strong Communication: An exceptional ability to translate complex data and category performance into clear, compelling stories for cross-functional stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Collaborative Spirit: A relationship-builder who easily partners with merchants, planners, and operational teams to move initiatives forward.
  • Detail-Oriented & Proactive: Highly organized, ensuring accuracy in reporting while anticipating business needs before issues arise.

Broadband Salary Range: $64,000 – $106,000 CAD.
Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements. For critical roles, the compensation offering will be reviewed to ensure alignment with market rate and conditions and the unique value you bring to the role.
