What you'll be doing

Fraud Analytics is a specialized team within CIBC, dedicated to providing comprehensive insights and analytics on fraud trends, including international fraud. Leveraging advanced analytics, innovative modeling, and data-driven approaches, we serve as the trusted source of truth for enterprise fraud loss and scams. Our mandate covers providing BI solutions, monitoring attacks, evaluating processes, and investigating root causes to enable proactive and strategic fraud management across all channels. By harnessing data from diverse sources, our team delivers actionable intelligence that empowers informed decision-making and effective risk mitigation throughout the organization. We develop robust forecasting models for loss projections, automate reporting, and conduct timely root cause analyses to address discrepancies and optimize fraud strategies. Embedded across Lines of Business and collaborating closely with digital, product, and operational teams, Fraud Analytics is critical to strengthening CIBC’s defenses, enhancing client safety, and supporting the bank’s commitment to integrity and trust. We are seeking a Senior Consultant, Analytics to join our enterprise team and lead the delivery of expert analytics solutions. In this role, you will design, develop, and implement analytics methodologies that drive fraud loss mitigation strategies. Your work will directly contribute to CIBC’s ambition to deliver industry-leading fraud management, supporting safer and more resilient banking for our clients.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you'll succeed

  • Business Intelligence & Data Visualization - Develop, maintain, and optimize BI solutions—including dashboards and interactive reports—to provide stakeholders with timely, actionable insights. Leverage industry-leading tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to monitor fraud trends and support decision-making.
  • Project & Stakeholder Leadership - Lead end-to-end analytics initiatives, from requirements gathering to implementation. Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Data Quality & Governance - Champion data integrity by implementing robust quality controls, monitoring data sources, and resolving issues to ensure the accuracy and reliability of all analytics and reporting outputs.
  • Advanced Analytics & Modeling - Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to build predictive models for fraud detection and loss forecasting. Continuously improve models to adapt to emerging fraud patterns and regulatory requirements.
  • Innovative Problem Solving - Continuously enhance complex analytics solutions and specialized reporting by applying innovative problem-solving and analytical thinking to address emerging fraud patterns. Ensure solutions are robust, aligned with business needs, and deliver expert analytics and strategic consultation by leveraging advanced data analysis and visualization techniques to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Continuous Improvement - Drive a culture of experimentation and learning by regularly reviewing processes, incorporating feedback, and integrating best practices from the industry.

Who you are

  • Analytics Experience. 5–8 years of hands-on experience in advanced analytics, preferably in financial services or fraud risk management. Degree in data analytics, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Programming & Tool Expertise. Proficient with analytics programming languages (SAS, Python, SQL) and BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Cognos, Alteryx). Experience with backend frameworks and building custom dashboards using web technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) is considered an asset.
  • Data Platforms. Experience with cloud-based data and AI platforms (e.g., Databricks, SageMaker, Snowflake) and deploying solutions in Azure, AWS, or GCP. 
  • Skilled Communicator. Strong presentation, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills.
