Job Summary:

Central 1 is hiring a Senior Compliance Analyst to lead key compliance efforts in areas like AML/CTF, Privacy, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption. This role focuses on research, analysis, and oversight to mitigate risks and align compliance activities with corporate goals. What you'll be doing:

  • Support the ongoing improvement and daily operations of the compliance risk management framework.
  • Create and review regular and annual risk assessments.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on compliance and AML/CTF matters to internal business lines
  • Review compliance documents (e.g., policies, standards, procedures) to ensure strong governance and internal controls.
  • Stay up-to-date on compliance requirements, including laws, regulations, financial trends, and best practices, both locally and internationally.
  • Collaborate with other departments to help design and implement risk management controls for compliance.
  • Assist with internal communications, awareness campaigns, and training to promote a strong compliance culture.
  • Conduct due diligence to identify and report suspicious activities, such as money laundering, terrorism financing, or sanctions violations.
  • Meet Central 1’s service and quality goals by ensuring timely and effective communication.
  • Help prepare reports for executives and board members to support business decisions.
  • Manage the compliance inbox and address inquiries, including:
    • Commercial lending AML reviews, enhanced due diligence (EDD), and sanctions screening.
    • Respond to requests from correspondent banks, counterparties, and law enforcement.
    • Publish required sanction notices and updates.
  • Manage administrative tasks, such as vendor relations and regulatory reporting.
  • Implement special monitoring measures for high-risk clients and review their activities to ensure compliance with internal protocols.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
     

What you'll have:

  • University degree in a relevant field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in compliance and/or risk management.
  • Prior experience in the credit union system or with a financial services organization serving credit unions is a strong asset.
  • One or more of the following certifications:
    • CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist)
    • CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner)
    • CRM (Certified Risk Manager)
  • Hands-on experience with compliance risk assessments, risk management, monitoring, reporting, and developing policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of compliance risks in credit unions, insurance, investments, and broader financial services.
  • Experience implementing or supporting compliance risk assessment methods tailored to different business areas, including applying controls to reduce risks.
  • Broad exposure to various compliance areas within credit unions and financial services.
  • Familiarity with incident management, audit remediation, and issue tracking systems.
  • Deep understanding of trends in the financial industry, credit union systems, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a sharp eye for detail.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and work under pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of simplifying complex compliance topics for different audiences.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and a team player.
  • Committed to ongoing learning to stay current in the field.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional relationships in dynamic, high-demand environments.
     

Salary range: $75,000-$85,000

The salary represents the job rate determined for the successful candidate who is fully competent in the role. The actual salary will vary depending on market conditions and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
