Job Description:

Sun Life’s Insurance Distribution team is responsible for growing sales of life and health insurance.  We are committed to increasing advisor and firm centricity through initiatives that will differentiate Sun Life in the insurance market.  To support this work, we engage quick thinking, innovation hungry and results driven professionals.

The role of the Senior Business Analyst, Business Initiatives, is to support the analytics and reporting needs for the Insurance Distribution team. The role will maintain business reporting by working with the Sales team and internal partners on day-to-day basis.

What will you do?

Reporting within the Business Initiatives team in Insurance Distribution, the Senior Business Analyst will be responsible for collaboration with the internal partner for: reviewing data to help generate value for a variety of functions, develop enhanced analytics and reporting, manage ongoing data/reporting needs, and produce innovative and effective methods of analyzing data to provide business insights. 

  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity and availability by monitoring and resolving production data and platform issues, investigating and reconciliating reporting issues, and ensuring minimal disruption to sales teams.
  • Manage the annual sales target setting process working with internal stakeholders.
  • Update/maintain regional and advisor alignment on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Develop & maintain internal relationships to help facilitate resolution of issues/concerns and maintain / enhance reporting and analytics.
  • Lead end-to-end project management and change management activities including planning, scheduling, governance, successful execution and post implementation communication and monitoring, ensuring that assignments meet objectives on time and to expected quality.
  • Ensure change management and communication principles are considered throughout delivery, including the early capture of stakeholder impacts, end user training, and communications.
  • Lead activities and training with business users on new / improved analytics and reporting and deployment of new technologies.
  • Facilitate requirements gathering sessions, including leading discussions, managing group dynamics, and maintaining group focus, to work build business requirements and planning for enhancements/changes.
  • Evaluating business processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and developing and implementing solutions.
  • Work on adhoc reporting requests; analyze and provide observations on the data and present findings and results to leaders at various levels.

  • Ability to assess data models and data and process flows
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including persuasive presentation skills
  • Communicate proactively, openly and directly with various stakeholders to provide insight, recommend actions to support change and/or to remove work barriers
  • Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • Build and maintain strong consulting relationships across the organization at all levels
  • Strong workshop facilitation skills including working with senior leaders
  • Ability to present data and information in a compelling way to influence and achieve support for change
  • Strong research, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to provide simplified explanations of complex analytical methodologies.
  • Experience balancing multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of internal teams & processes
  • Demonstrated analytical, facilitation and change management skills, along with experience managing complex process improvement projects
  • Expert level knowledge of tools to collect, aggregate, segment and analyze data (ie: MS Excel)
  • Knowledge of Wrike, MS PowerPoint, MS Project and MS Visio

What will be nice to have:

  • University degree in a Business, Finance, Math/Statistics, Computer science, Analytics-related discipline and/or 5+ years of relevant experience with increasing responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of running analysis & creating dashboards on Tableau would be an asset
  • Working knowledge of SQL and Programming languages such as Python and R would be an asset

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
