Job Description
Position Summary
The Senior Analyst serves as a key finance partner supporting Technology Services Applications teams, responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting to internal stakeholders. The role leads core month-end close activities, prepares and analyzes financial results, and provides management with clear commentary on performance against budget and forecast.
Job Details
Lead and execute month-end close activities including journal entries, accruals, and cost centre reporting while ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards.
Prepare and review routine and non-routine journal entries and accruals while assessing the appropriateness of accounting treatments for complex transactions.
Prepare financial reporting schedules including cost centre reporting, and supporting documentation that contribute to the preparation of financial statement packages.
Perform variance analysis comparing actuals to budget and forecast and prepare written financial commentary summarizing key drivers of performance, risks, and emerging trends.
Present financial results and insights to business partners and senior management and communicate financial implications of operational decisions.
Partner with operational teams to develop monthly forecasts and presentations as well as support the annual budgeting process for operating expenses and capital planning.
Analyze forecast assumptions and evaluate the financial impacts of strategic and operational decisions.
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide explanations on changes month over month.
Respond to ad-hoc requests for financial data, analysis, and insights from senior management.
Other duties assigned as the role grows.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Three to Four (3-4) years of progressive work experience
CPA Designation or pursuing CPA designation preferred.
Strong financial systems experience, including advanced Excel skills.
Leadership and interpersonal skills, and the willingness to always support the team.
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Able to translate financial terms into business vocabulary.
Highly organized and able to work in a dynamic, complex, and fast-paced environment, as well as adapt quickly to manage changing priorities and deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated and pro-active, with respect to both managing workload and professional development.
Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics is an asset.
Salary Range: $85,000 - $105,000
