Reporting to the Senior Manager, Investment Accounting, this role is responsible for consolidating and interpreting investment business unit financial information and producing key financial statement note disclosures. This role involves significant collaboration and coordination with the broader Corporate Finance group and the Investment Finance and Operations teams. The incumbent will demonstrate expertise in accounting, financial reporting and internal controls, and finance system literacy. The person who fills this role will be a key member of the OMERS Corporate Finance team. Our ambitions are high: we aim to be the best corporate finance team in the Canadian pension industry.
As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:
Coordinating timelines and deliverables from Investment Finance and Operations teams on a monthly, and semi-annual basis to facilitate the accounting close cycle.
Preparation of notes to the OMERS consolidated financial statements related to investments assets and liabilities, including reconciliation to MD&A, and analysis of year-over-year movements.
Assisting with semi-annual and year-end audits by gathering supporting documentation and preparing schedules.
Drafting and providing input and research into accounting policies
Developing a collaborative relationship with key stakeholders, including business partners and external auditors.
Reconciliation of inbound automated data from the Investment Finance and Operations teams and consolidation of the monthly financial results.
Supporting intercompany loan activities, including documentation, and coordination of approval processes.
Providing support for projects and business transformation initiatives, including business input, transition support, and other project-related activities as required.
Demonstrating understanding of OMERS’ investment strategies and transactions; applying learnings to the OMERS financial statements.
Identifying opportunities for operational improvements and leveraging automation tools to continuously improve the control environment and efficiency of recurring processes.
Participating in opportunities to develop technical and leadership skills to advance the Corporate Finance team.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an accounting or financial analysis role within the investment or financial services sector.
- Post-secondary degree in business, accounting, or finance, with a CPA designation (or pursuing CPA).
- Understanding of IFRS accounting standards, particularly as they relate to investments and financial instruments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and accounting acumen.
- Eagerness to identify and implement process improvements to drive operational efficiency.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present clear perspectives and tailor messaging to the audience.
- Strong attention to detail when preparing and reviewing work.
- Ability to understand broader business impacts while consistently delivering high-quality work in a timely manner.
- Experience with Oracle (including ARCS), Alteryx, and Workiva is considered an asset.

The expected salary range for this position is $86,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year, prorated based on the term of the contract.
You may also be eligible to receive an annual Incentive Award pursuant to our Short-term Incentive plan and our Long-Term Incentive plan (if applicable), and to participate in our group benefits and retirement plans – details on these elements of compensation are included within OMERS & Oxford offer letters.
