Job Description

The Senior Analyst, Finance will join the BWS’ Finance team, located in our head office in Downtown Toronto. The Senior Analyst role is a highly visible position that provides the foundation, guidance and exposure towards a challenging and dynamic career. The Senior Analyst will be involved at various depths with financial reporting, compliance, and forecasting. There is also opportunity to provide leadership and mentorship to analysts and co-op students.

The role will be based in Brookfield’s Toronto office at Brookfield Place.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements for the company’s securitized investment vehicles, partnering closely with investment accounting, research, and operations teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

  • Act as a financial business partner to the company’s operating subsidiaries, overseeing the collection and review of quarterly reporting submissions to ensure completeness, accuracy, and alignment within reporting requirements.

  • Prepare the consolidated financial statements and public documents on a quarterly and annual basis, including the MD&A and other public materials.

  • Compile, analyze, and report on corporate and key business platforms including operating metrics.

  • Produce financial reporting deliverables provided to the board of directors and senior management.

  • Actively participate in the resolution of complex technical accounting issues.

  • Support internal and external audit teams in connection with quarterly reviews, the annual audit, and SOX compliance.

  • Assist in ad-hoc analyses and presentations on platform financial and operational results, as well as supporting any special projects.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency of reporting processes, tools, and controls and support implementation of improvements.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Three to five (3–5) years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or an industry role; experience in the insurance industry, including public accounting experience on insurance engagements, is considered an asset.

  • Experience preparing or auditing financial statements for a publicly listed entity in accordance with IFRS; working exposure to US GAAP is considered an asset.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office Excel skills (knowledge of OneStream and Workiva is an asset).

  • CPA or CA designation preferred; candidates actively pursuing certification considered.

  • Highly organized and able to work in a dynamic, complex and fast-paced environment, as well as adapt quickly to manage changing priorities and deadlines.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Self-motivated and pro-active, with respect to both managing workload and professional development.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $105,000 CAD

Our compensation structure is comprised of a base salary and a short-term incentive program (cash bonus). Cash compensation tends to vary based on geography to account for local market conditions and is set to be market competitive. Compensation decisions are based on a number of factors including relative experience, overall years of experience, industry experience, education and designations.
