Are you driven by credit risk oversight and the opportunity to help ensure that risk exposure is identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal policies? As a Senior Advisor, Credit Risk Oversight, you will play a key role in developing, implementing, and maintaining the credit risk management framework, including the oversight of credit underwriting and adjudication processes.

This is a great opportunity to leverage your expertise in credit risk, analytics, reporting, and risk quantification while collaborating with stakeholders across the organization. This position reports to the Director, Financial Risk Oversight, and is part of the Group Risk Management and Compliance team.

What you'll accomplish with us

As a Senior Advisor, Credit Risk Oversight, you will be at the heart of our mission. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and update credit risk policies and guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Oversee credit underwriting and adjudication processes by measuring, monitoring, and reporting iA’s credit risk exposures.
  • Ensure the accurate interpretation and application of credit risk policies and guidelines.
  • Assess credit applications and structures from lending units and provide recommendations to senior management.
  • Develop and monitor lending activities using out-of-order, impaired, and watch list credits, and escalate as needed.
  • Help minimize credit loss experience through sound lending practices, implementation of policies and guidelines, and early identification of deteriorating credit situations.
  • Prepare quarterly financial risk reports for senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Develop and maintain organizational financial risk indicators and limits.
  • Contribute to credit risk quantification initiatives, including PD, LGD and EAD models, the Internal Capital Model process, ORSA process and Stress Testing Program.

What could accelerate your success in this role

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Has a master’s degree or professional certification such as CFA or FRM, which would be considered an asset.
  • Has a minimum of 8 years of recent experience in credit risk.
  • Has experience with credit adjudication on loan portfolios.
  • Demonstrates exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to influence senior management and exercise sound judgment.
  • Has strong communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
  • Has sound knowledge of IFRS 9 and its application, which would be considered an asset.
  • Level of advanced English language proficiency required, as the incumbent will be required to communicate daily with English-speaking clients and partners across Canada through email and telephone conversations.
  • Intermediate French language proficiency required.

The typical hiring range for this position is between CAD 120 000$ and $150 000$; the base salary may vary depending on knowledge, skills, years of experience, and internal equity. In addition to base compensation, this role may be eligible for a corporate bonus program and a comprehensive benefits package, including group insurance, a retirement savings plan, flexible time off, and wellness programs.
