What it's like to be a Northbridge Senior Actuarial Analyst

Our Senior Actuarial Analysts are known in the organization for being the experts in providing insights to many teams, including claims, finance, and underwriting; allowing us the ability to best serve our customers while mitigating risk. They use their strong actuarial knowledge to analyse trends, identifying emerging risks and ensuring pricing strategies align with business objectives. The team leverages data-driven insights to enhance rate adequacy, competitiveness, and profitability across the commercial portfolio.

They are passionate about digging deep into the data to uncover meaningful insights and providing their take on what we should do next – this doesn’t just mean being good with numbers – it also means being able to explain complex findings in a clear, compelling way to leaders without an actuarial background. Working in collaboration with other actuaries and data scientists within our team, there are opportunities to utilize advanced analytics, and predictive modeling to refine pricing structure and ensure that Northbridge stays on the cutting edge in this competitive industry.

We want your talent:

If you are great at:

  • Conducting analyses relating to rate adequacy

  • Using your skills to resolve complex problems and help your colleagues in doing the same by sharing your actuarial knowledge

  • Preparing and analyzing data for profitability analysis

  • Sharing the conclusions of your analysis to the appropriate stakeholders and making recommendations within the established timelines

  • Driving change by improving work processes and making substantial observations, conclusions, and recommendation

If you have:

  • Post-secondary education with a major in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or a related field.

  • Associate or near-Associate designation with CAS or CIA

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an actuarial related field

  • In-depth knowledge of commercial insurance product and strong understanding of actuarial pricing techniques (including GLMs and other statistical models)

  • Advanced proficiency in actuarial tools and programming languages such as Excel, PowerPoint, SAS, SQL and Python.

  • High preference for candidates with experience in in Transportation & Logistics (T&L) or Commercial Auto experience

  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and findings to non-actuarial stakeholders.

We really mean it when we say we put you first. Here are a few ways how:

  • Hybrid work! You get to work from the office and at home 50/50, allowing you to manage both worlds with the ease and flexibility you need.

  • We offer competitive salaries and support your financial health through our employee share purchase plan, pension plans, RRSP, discounts on staff insurance, and more!

  • We help you prioritize your well-being from day one through flexible health benefits, early leave days, wellness programs, rewards, and recognition programs.

  • We are invested in helping you grow in your career through education assistance to complete your FCAS and FCIA, internal mobility, leadership training and mentoring programs.
