The Senior Actuarial Analyst is primarily responsible for supporting the pricing of RFPs across various lines of business. The work is focused on completing experience studies, assumption development, model development, and R&D work. Other responsibilities include supporting client initiatives, data analytics and other business activities. The Senior Actuarial Analyst will support cross-functional projects, as well as work closely with other teams (eg. Reserving, Operations, Underwriting, Global Pricing, etc) as required.

Responsibilities
  • Work with Actuarial Pricing Team to deliver quality and timely priced RFPs/quotes to meet insurer needs.
  • Develop actuarial models in AXIS or R, including liability population cells / data tables / other structures needed to properly price business.
  • Generate cashflow projections and provide analysis to Pricing Actuarial staff.
  • Research and develop bases including base incidence/mortality rates and trend assumptions for mortality, morbidity, and longevity pricing.
  • Present and liaise with clients to facilitate front office activities/business development/knowledge sharing.
  • Work with Marketing Actuaries, Operations, and Pricing Actuary to ensure that they have all information required for Assumption Review Committee and Business Review.
  • Work with Corporate Actuarial staff and counterparts to continually improve data modeling, inforce management, establishing valuation numbers, and hand off controls.
  • Continue ongoing enhancements to processes and tools.
  • Assist on various other business initiatives as they arise.
  • Prepare data documentation packages.
  • May perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field with demonstrated record of academic excellence.
  • Experience relevant to Pricing function
  • Must have completed 4+ SOA exams with steady progression towards ASA/FSA designation and have knowledge of computer programming or analytical software.
  • Solid mathematical analysis skills with strong problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated/self-starter.
  • Must be able to work effectively independently & as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in typically-used life insurance software (AXIS, Excel, Access, etc.)
  • Preferable to have strong computer skills including R, Python, Azure DevOps.
  • French language an asset.

Pay Range for roles performed in Toronto: $105,967-$129,515 base salary per year. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, role and performance. The range listed is just one component of SCOR's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long term incentives. In addition, we provide a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement saving plan, paid holidays and paid time off.
