We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, particularly US GAAP, and will be adept at handling all operational accounting tasks. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy of financial records and requires the ability to step in and support the accounting staff where needed.
Your Responsibilities:
- Operational Accounting:
- Oversee daily accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset reconciliations, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.
- Review journal entries for accuracy and completeness, including adjustments and accruals.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare financial statements in compliance with US GAAP.
- Staff Support and Substitution:
- Provide guidance and support to accounting staff on various tasks.
- Step in to perform accounting duties across different functions as needed.
- Assist in training and developing junior team members.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure all financial transactions comply with company policies and legal regulations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Generate reports, as needed, to address specific business questions or strategic initiatives.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and enhance efficiency.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments to resolve financial issues and support business operations.
- Collaborate with the finance team leadership on budgeting and forecasting activities.
More About You:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and accounting principles.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel, including the use of Pivot tables.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Bonus points:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting
- Familiarity with accounting software, particularly QuickBooks.
- Background in a fast-paced industry like e-commerce or digital marketing is a plus. Start-up experience is preferred
