The Role

Your role consists of managing the ratemaking of commercial products nationally, which includes responsibilities related to risk segmentation and managing the overall level of rates, the section manager will have a key role in developing talent and managing people in his or her team of actuarial professionals. The section manager will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing the business plan, and overseeing activities supporting the organization's strategic orientations. More specifically, you will be required to :

  • Ensure the development, implementation, and monitoring of an action plan for its administrative unit, in line with the strategic orientations of the company and integrated with the other administrative units, in a context of performance management and ambition to grow significantly.

  • Implement management and communication practices that promote change management, skills development, mobilization, talent retention and diversity, consistent with the company's values.

  • Ensure the effective and efficient management and use of resources and processes on an ongoing basis, in a rigorous results-oriented, quality of service and customer-oriented approach.

  • Establish and implement rating strategies for commercial lines property and liability insurance nationally and for commercial automobile in Quebec, through risk segmentations, management of the overall rate level and the evolution of the rating structure.

  • Analyze claims experience and monitor the market to dynamically adjust pricing.

  • Provide actuarial advice and expertise to the analysts of the team in the realization of business projects in a mixed role of coaching and quality assurance, as well as to other sectors of the company for actuarial matters.

What you bring to the table

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science or in a related field

  • A minimum of eight years of relevant experience

  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

  • Experience in a management role

  • Experience in coaching and in a team lead role

  • Strong communication skills in both French and English, both oral and written due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with (language)-speaking partners, members and/or clients
