The Sales Specialist provides superior sales and service to customers, including credit unions, insured members, field staff, and intermediaries. Key focus areas for this role include individual life inside sales, inbound telephone inquiries, processing various servicing functions, and support for credit union team members from a technical perspective, resulting primarily from telephone interaction requests.


How you will create impact: 
  • Sell individual life insurance products and services to customers through inbound and outbound call activity 
  • Participate in up-sell/cross-sell referrals program for individual-life insurance coverage to persons insured to increase number of active relationships, thereby increasing customer loyalty or as an extension of conservation efforts to maintain existing customer relationships by offering alternative products or services that are more suitable to current needs 
  • Generate life, disability and annuity insurance sales based on set individual and departmental goals 
  • Efficiently handle a variety of inquiries in the form of calls, emails, faxes, and mail from members, credit unions, and administrative staff (i.e. Life and Disability Claims and Underwriting) regarding contract information, policy provisions, administrative and procedural matters for all individual and creditor lines of business, totalling more than 50 products and some with several variations 
  • Provide general explanations of underwriting and claims requirements and procedures, including status updates 
  • Provide creative solutions to customer problems, complaints, or enquiries, taking opportunities to exceed normal service standards 
  • Appropriately document all business interactions and transactions in our Customer Relationship Management systems to maximize efficiency in all subsequent customer interactions, ensuring data accuracy to reflect the event 
  • Ensure the most effective and highest quality customer experience by achieving and exceeding company service and industry 

To join our team:  
  • You have a post secondary education with 2-3 years of customer service experience in a contact centre environment
  • You have a level I of Life licensed
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • You have strong oral and written communication skills

Expected salary range $54,517 - $90,861

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.​​

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
