We are looking for a Risk Manager to join our Market & Counterparty Risk team, based in Toronto. This role will support the team with activities related to the identification, management, assessment, monitoring and reporting of risk to the firm.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the production of daily risk reporting for the front office and senior management.
  • Develop and implement quality control and efficiency measures in reporting and various processes using Excel VBA Macros, PowerBI, relational databases, and by working closely with IT for more systemic solutions.
  • Develop, promote, and enforce risk policies and processes to govern the firm’s trading businesses.
  • Collaborate closely with the trading desk and with senior leadership to devise risk management guidelines and controls for new business lines and potential new products to ensure alignment with the firm’s risk management framework and risk appetite.
  • Ensure the trading desks’ risk-taking is within the established risk limits.
  • Participate in counterparty risk assessments in order to establish appropriate credit limits for institutional clients.
  • Assist in the development of the quarterly Market Risk Management reporting package.
  • Assist with ad-hoc requests and risk management projects and initiatives as required.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5 - 7 years of experience in a risk management organization at a financial institution.
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field, such as Business Administration, Risk Management, Economics, Math, Engineering or Finance.
  • Pursuit of the CFA and/or FRM designation would be an asset.
  • Experience with Trading applications such as Fidessa or Iress.
  • Experience working in a market risk function or on a trading desk at a CIRO-regulated dealer
  • Action-oriented with a strong work ethic and drive to achieve excellence
  • Ability to lead and drive multiple competing priorities and thrive in a fast paced and complex environment which requires navigating ambiguity
  • Strong relationship development, and influencing skills while ensuring a collaborative approach
  • Clear and compelling communication style
  • Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and standards related to risk management.
