- Prepare and deliver a variety of reports, including monthly billing, in-force, quarterly, and annual reinsurance reports to identify premiums owed to reinsurers in accordance with Foresters’ creditor agreements
- Validate policy data to ensure consistency and accuracy of reinsurance information between Foresters and its reinsurers
- Manage administrative tasks within Foresters’ reinsurance system, including facultative and continuation processing, and overseeing monthly cycle messages
- Provide policy change details to reinsurers for policies not maintained within Foresters’ reinsurance system
- Update reinsurance administration procedure manuals and training materials as needed
- Support internal and external audits by analyzing reports to confirm premiums are paid accurately and in compliance with treaty terms
- Interpret treaty parameters to ensure compliance and consistency between Foresters’ reinsurance system and billing information provided to reinsurers
- Oversee retention management, ensuring adherence to Foresters’ corporate retention policy
- Collaborate with IT programmers and Business Analysts to implement system enhancements for new reinsurance products
- Validate and reconcile premiums due to and from reinsurers
- Journalize Foresters’ assumed reinsurance arrangements
- Communicate with reinsurance companies regarding claims submissions, including timely notification under various treaties
- Establish proactive, collaborative relationships with North America Division business areas such as Claims, Actuarial, Finance, Capital Management, Underwriting, and other key cross-functional teams
- Regularly liaise with reinsurance company representatives to resolve billing discrepancies, address issues, and respond to inquiries and requests for information
- Education (minimum required): Post–secondary education
- Experience (minimum required): Minimum 2+ years life insurance operations or reinsurance experience
- Working knowledge of life insurance products, reinsurance practices, and principles
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Access, and SQL
- Mathematical skills to support key responsibilities
- Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills for effective engagement with internal and external stakeholders
- Proven ability to build effective cross-functional partnerships within the division and across the organization
- Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to establish trust and maintain strong working relationships
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-starter with the ability to make decisions independently and in a team environment
- Skilled in research and issue resolution
