Job Description:

The Regional Sales Manager – West (Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba, and British Columbia) is responsible for developing, implementing, executing, and measuring the annual retail for the region, aligning to marketing and sales initiatives. This role will lead a team of District Sales Managers across the West, developing and managing resource prioritization in the region consistent with sales strategies and goals.

This role is based in Bolton with regular in-office collaboration expected. Flexibility is a key enabler—empowering associates to make choices that support both business outcomes and personal needs, including remote work.

What are we looking for?

  • University degree with 5+ years of CPG experience
  • Previous sales experience at the retail/account level
  • Experience leading a team of direct reports and working with cross functional teams
  • Able to travel 25% of the time

What will be your key responsibilities?

Retail Conditions:

  • Responsible for the Regional Team’s execution against corporately defined priorities which includes ensuring the presence of all authorized Mars/Wrigley products at the point of sale through maintenance and distribution of products, merchandising, display, and shelf rotation for optimal product freshness. 

District Sales Manager Development:

  • Development through tracking performance against individual & team objectives, and arranging for targeted training. 
  • Accountable for the performance development process, which includes all performance reviews and development plans for all members of the District Sales Management team.
  • Responsible for working in the field with District Sales Manager on a regular basis, and tracking performance against objectives.  Weekly field visits.
  • Collaborates with the Retail Operations team ensuring regional field teams have optimal tools and equipment.
  • Implements and ensures robust field process controls inclusive of self-reported data, trade spend, waste spend, car stock, premiums.
  • Works in collaboration with Retail Sales and Training Capability Manager to ensure execution of yearly training, onboarding and compliance to organizational training requirements. 

  

Relationship Building:

  • Establishes and maintains sound business relationships with the trade, Mars Wrigley Account Managers.
  • Is an active and visible member of the Retail Leadership Team.
  • Collaborates with Sales/Finance/Marketing areas in the effective daily operating matters within the Region.          

Communication:

  • Communicates strategies and objectives to District Sales Managers and Retail Representatives through consistent “work with” program, annual Sales Team Meetings.

Administration:

  • Completes all assigned reports in a timely manner via electronic format, hard copy.  Ensures that company policy/procedure for credits and samples are followed.
  • Coordinates and provides input into annual performance reviews, which includes development plans for skill enhancement.  Completes annual merit process for assigned Region.

Cost Control:

  • Segment Retail Sales Manager is responsible for ensuring that sales costs are maintained within operational budget including;
  • Exercise of sound judgement when incurring business expenses.
  • Exercise of proper care in handling all company property and equipment including company vehicle, if applicable.
  • Control of investment levels associated with the field including samples.
