The Queen’s Biomedical Innovation Team (QBiT) is an interdisciplinary design team that designs, prototypes, and tests innovative biomedical devices to address healthcare concerns both globally and within our local community.

Position Description:  

One Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be hired. The role of the CFO is to oversee QBiT’s finances, annual budgeting, funding applications, and sponsorship strategy. 

The CFO will oversee the Director of Sponsorship and support sponsorship outreach through cold emailing, alumni connections, and professional relationship-building with external partners. 

Applicants not selected for CFO may automatically be considered for Director of Sponsorship. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Managing QBiT’s finances and annual budget 
  • Depositing funds and reimbursing team expenditures 
  • Applying for funding from various Queen’s University initiatives 
  • Leading sponsorship strategy alongside the Director of Sponsorship 
  • Supporting cold email outreach and alumni/sponsor relationship-building 
  • Regularly attending executive meetings and providing financial updates 
  • Overseeing the Director of Sponsorship and supporting the procurement of sponsorships 


Ideal qualities:  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Accounting skills or financial aptitude 
  • Interest in sponsorship, fundraising, or business development 
  • Aptitude for professional relationship building

Interviews will take place during June 21st, June 26th, June 27th and June 28th.
