What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be joining CIBC’s Core Banking and Payments Technology Quality Engineering (QE) team.  As a Quality Engineer, you are responsible for developing and executing test scenarios and scripts, for system integration and acceptance testing for platforms in compliance with established controls and standards. The Engineer works cooperatively with others to achieve synergies and accomplish common goals, defining and documenting criteria for testing and presenting results to achieve established goals and objectives following the defined testing methodology. The role is required to interpret policies, standards, and requirements to meet work objectives, developing and executing test cases, automated test cases, scenarios, and scripts using test tools to identify and verify result variances. In addition, the role seeks out new assignments to learn and develop, contributing valuable ideas for the team within defined parameters.

How You’ll Succeed 

  • Testing expertise – Participate in requirements and design reviews to provide feedback from a quality perspective. Design and manage end-to-end testing activities for various projects across the business. Develop and maintain test suites (manual/automated). Co-ordinate with software developers in building automated solutions.  Create and maintain test scripts using scripting languages.  Execute test cases, document test results, raise defects whenever necessary and collaborate with development teams for resolution. Analyze test results and provide actionable insights to stakeholders. Contribute to process improvement initiatives and quality metrics reporting.

  • Leadership skills – Provide advice to your team, including ongoing feedback, support, and mentorship. Proactively identify any potential issues throughout all test phases and suggest possible improvements or enhancements.

  • Project coordination – Identify obstacles or risks that may impact a project’s timeline or success and provide regular status updates. Keep the lines of communication open with stakeholders and escalate issues when necessary. Ensure that all test deliverables are received, approved, and aligned to your project’s timeline, budget and goals. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required. 

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience of 1+ years in a QE or equivalent technical role, preferably within banking sector. Good knowledge of QE Processes, Testing Life Cycle, SDLC and Defect Management processes for application testing. Must have hands on experience with Test Automation tools such as Selenium/Robot framework, Parasoft SOAtest, Postman, RestAssured, Cucumber or similar test tools required for testing REST and Web Services. Preferred language experience on Python and Java, and SQL database skills. The Quality Engineer must have great understanding in debugging and analyzing code logs and other development techniques. Must have the ability to build out automated testing scripts and integrate them with DevOps tools. Experience with test management tools (e.g. JIRA, HP ALM) is required.

  • You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
