Job Description:
About the Role:
Reporting to the QA Manager, the QA Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of the facilities Food Safety, Quality and Sanitation programs in accordance with accepted Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as mandated by government agencies, company policy and in accordance with customer specific requirements. You’ll add value by:

Maintaining Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) Program including all verification and validation activities

Being responsible for leading the annual review of the facilities Food Safety Plan as a member of Food Safety Team

Supporting the plant’s efforts to maintain BRC certification
-
Managing FS&Q document control ensuring accessibility and efficiency
-
Managing the facilities Environmental Monitoring Program including the coordination of all sampling, the tracking of results, the implementation of corrective action and the on-going verification and validation of the program

Coordinating the tracking and trending of Sanitation Effectiveness and ATP swab results

Maintaining and managing Organic program to the most current Pro-Cert requirements including key participation in certification audits

Maintaining internal FS&Q IMPACT audit program

Collaborating with trained auditors to perform monthly audits and responsible for documenting all deficiencies, assisting in the development of corrective actions, and tracks and reports the completion status of corrective actions
Important Details: This is a full-time permanent role at our Georgetown, ON facility on day shift, and may require some coverage for afternoon and night shifts.
About You:
You’ll fit right in if you have:

Diploma/Bachelor’s in Food Science, Microbiology, Food Chemistry or relevant field

Knowledge of analytical techniques, chemistry, microbiology and math skills

Must have good knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word
-
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, WHMIS, sanitation principles and safe handling of chemicals
