Role Title

Quality Assurance Lead

Purpose of role

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Assurance (QA) Lead will be responsible for the planning, monitoring and control of assigned project testing activities and tasks as well as the creation of various testing artifacts. The QA Lead will work closely with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Project Architects, Business Stakeholders, and External Vendors to ensure Foresters Financial Quality Assurance and Testing best practices are followed on projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall end-to-end test management support to enable successful project delivery
  • Lead and perform the following tasks on assigned projects:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for Quality Assurance tasks
    • Provide accurate QA effort estimation to Project Manager
    • Assess testing requirements and identify appropriate resources, processes and tools for the project
    • Develop the project test strategy/test plan and provide walkthrough to the project team
    • Work closely with Business Analysts/Business Systems Analysts/Business Subject Matter Experts in identifying test data and batch cycle plans
    • Develop test matrices and test case to requirements traceability matrices
    • Facilitate the review of test scenarios and test cases to ensure full testing coverage
    • Act as overall testing liaison and first point of escalation for the project team
    • Manage and coordinate onsite and offshore test efforts for System Integration (SIT), Regression and UAT phases
    • Facilitate defect review meetings
    • Communicate testing progress status/reports to project and management teams
    • Provide guidance to business test teams in identifying/developing test  conditions and test cases
    • Coordinate UAT execution
    • Maintain and utilize test and defect management tools (HP QC) for test management and traceability/auditing purposes
    • Ensure project deliverables meet business requirements and there are no adverse effects on the existing production business environments.
    • Report testing results and advise of readiness of projects for production implementation
    • Represent assigned projects at test environment meetings
    • Work closely with Project Manager and external vendors to deliver projects to time, cost and quality requirements
    • Lead and mentor intermediate QA team members, as well as manage outside contract testers.
    • Ensure customer satisfaction through post implementation review and customer feedback
    • Work with QA Practice Lead to complete ongoing analysis of industry standard testing tools and methodologies and makes recommendations for improvement in overall Foresters testing practices

Key Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years quality assurance experience in an Life Insurance or software vendor environment
  • 3 to 5 years in a QA Lead role engaged in project delivery
  • Experience with Mainframe, Client –Server, Web and Mobile applications in a complex, integrated environment
  • Experience with testing applications that rely on overnight batch processes
  • Experience working with Onshore and Offshore development and test teams
  • Expert knowledge of HP Quality Center/Application Life Management
  • Working knowledge of XML 
  • Exposure to RUP, UML and other business analysis techniques, tools and processes
  • Ability to meet deadlines, be a self-starter, and be a quick learner
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills
  • Solid analytical and problem solving skills displayed in the development and execution of test plans and the analysis of system problems and appropriate escalation
  • Excellent communication, documentation and reporting skills
  • Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to be flexible and to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to integrate well into internal and external teams
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet project deadlines
  • Life insurance subject matter expertise (Nice to have)
  • Experience with automated testing tools and establishing an automated testing practice (nice to have)

Additional Information

  • Standard working hours, with occasional overtime hours
  • Flexibility to participate in calls with offshore resources during non-standard office hours

Salary Range:

$71,500.00 - $104,500.00

 

The actual base salary for this position will depend on several factors, including job-related skills, experience, and education. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may participate in a discretionary variable incentive plan, results are subject to both individual and company performance.
