Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The position is responsible for coordinating cost reduction initiatives, supply chain management, contract management, legal compliance, supplier risk management and executing cross divisional initiatives encompassing common commodities while driving positive results to support Cosma International.
- Cost reductions: Meet and exceed cost reduction goals established by Cosma International. Provide quarterly reports as requested
- Initiate the development and implementation of new purchasing initiatives to achieve both Divisional and Group cost reduction objectives.
- Develop preferred suppliers in key commodities while ensuring the supply base is viable, capable to be a long term partner
- Manage annual rebate agreements
- Conduct detailed RFQ analysis as well as detailed review of cost breakdowns
- Occasionally support divisional purchasing needs on site
- Manage any legal related supplier issue
- Work with divisions to enhance the divisional purchasing plans and develop additional action plans with divisions where necessary for both direct and indirect commodities
- Negotiate in any problematic supplier related issue.
- Mentor and coach younger and less experienced divisional buyers
- Participate in the development and implementation of purchasing policies and best practices
- Work with Magna on Supplier Risk Management and represent Cosma N/A purchasing when necessary
- When appropriate represent Cosma divisions across the Magna Group of Companies in common cost reduction Initiatives.
- Interact with Cosma Commodity Leads in other regions
- Supplier development. Identify new sources and markets to drive improvements in Quality, Service, Technology and cost.
- Develop strong Divisional Procurement teams while encouraging all Divisions to work collaboratively in our unified effort to drive benefit across the Cosma group of companies.

Qualifications

Education/Experience
- University Degree and/or Community College graduate in field of Engineering, Business Purchasing, or Supply Chain Management
- +10 years of purchasing experience in the automotive industry
- Supply Chain Management designation is preferred but not required (SCMP, SPSM, CPP, CPPM, CGPP, CPPC)
- Strong knowledge of purchasing related laws and regulations within the Canadian, USA and Mexico Markets
- General knowledge in Accounting & Finance, Marketing and Logistics
- Strong process and product knowledge
- Proficiency in English business acumen (verbal, written), additional language skills an asset
