Project Manager, Rail & Transit

Who Are We Looking For?

Reporting to the Team Leader in Rail & Transit, the Rail & Transit Project Manager will lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex rail and transit infrastructure projects across Canada. This role is responsible for managing multidisciplinary teams, strengthening client relationships, and delivering projects that support transportation expansion, asset renewal, and community connectivity. The successful candidate will play a key role in growing GHD's Rail & Transit practice while driving excellence in project delivery, innovation, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, procurement, construction support, and commissioning of major rail and transit infrastructure projects.
  • Manage projects involving commuter rail, heavy rail, LRT, BRT, rail corridor improvements, track rehabilitation, stations, guideways, and transit expansion initiatives.
  • Deliver projects in accordance with scope, budget, schedule, quality, safety, and client expectations.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams consisting of civil, track, structural, systems, utilities, environmental, and construction specialists.
  • Liaise with transit agencies, railway owners and operators, municipalities, utility companies, regulators, contractors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Manage project risks, commercial performance, schedules, stakeholder engagement, and contract administration activities.
  • Support proposal preparation, strategic pursuits, and client relationship management.

What You Bring

  • 5-10 years of project management experience delivering rail and transit infrastructure projects within Canada and other comparable jurisdictions.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects involving rail corridors, track infrastructure, stations, guideways, transit systems, and transportation infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of railway operations, corridor management, transit agency requirements, stakeholder coordination, and regulatory approvals.
  • Experience leading large multidisciplinary engineering and consulting teams through the full project lifecycle.
  • Experience with various contract models, for example; Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, Construction Management, and P3 delivery models.
  • Proven client management, leadership, communication, and commercial management skills.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario or other Provinces within Canada.
  • Experience with TTC, Metrolinx, VIA Rail, municipal transit agencies, or railway owners/operators is considered an asset.

 

The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $120,000.  The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and adhere to all relevant pay transparency legislation.
