Product Technical Lead – Supply Chain

Are you looking to be a trusted representative working in the product team for Ontario's largest retailer?

Reporting to the IT Product Owner, you will play a crucial role supporting product roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business objectives and user needs. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining the product backlog, which includes well-defined, prioritized features that reflect the organization's goals. You will also act as liaisons between stakeholders and internal partners, gathering and prioritizing product requirements to drive value creation. You will leverage your expertise to develop and deliver solutions that optimize supply chain operations, in areas such Order Fulfillment, speed to market, warehousing and automation. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications.

About the Role

Solution Design and Architecture

  • Architect scalable technical solutions that meet defined business requirements and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Conduct design reviews to ensure proposed solutions align with strategic business objectives and technical standards.
  • Create detailed documentation of solution designs along with functional and non-functional requirements to guide development efforts.

Collaboration with Platform Teams:

  • Work with Platform Teams throughout the development process to validate that execution translates the technical design accurately into implemented solutions.
  • Facilitate technical discussions with Platform Teams, addressing any questions or challenges that arise during implementation.
  • Ensure knowledge transfer between the solutioning and implementation phases to promote clarity and efficiency.
  • Provide detailed specifications and guidance to Platform Teams to help with the successful execution of designed solutions.
  • Conduct implementation reviews to ensure alignment with the original design intent and address any deviations.
  • Collaborate with Platform Teams post-implementation to gather feedback and fine-tune solutions based on real-world usage and performance.

Business Alignment and Strategy

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of business priorities and objectives to inform solution design.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts assigned to the Product Team, or project, ensuring that their insights and analyses are integrated into the technical solutions developed.
  • Analyse the impact of proposed technical solutions, ensuring that they translate business requirements into actionable technical specifications.
  • Facilitate regular communications with users to present solution designs, clarify requirements, and gather feedback throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Work along side Business Analysts and the IT Product Owner to clarify requirements and ensure that both technical specifications and business objectives are well understood and addressed.
  • Provide reporting updates on solution development progress and any identified risks or challenges. Ensuring partners are informed of decisions affecting project direction, scope, and timelines.

Governance and Best Practices

  • Develop guidelines to enhance design processes and promote best practices for solution architecture within the Product Team for future projects.
  • Ensure compliance with established governance frameworks and policies during solution design.
  • Identify opportunities for optimization in existing solution designs based on user feedback and performance metrics.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements to integrate relevant innovations into solution designs and practices.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging team members to share recommendations for enhancing technical processes.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics or a related field
  • 3+ years' experience in solution architecture, technical design, or product development, with a focus on translating business requirements into technical solutions
  • Prior experience in the Supply Chain/Retail technology sector, understanding specific business/operations and technical needs and industry trends.
  • Experience as a Product Owner or in a similar role, such as Product Management or Product Development.
  • Experience with software architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Previous experience with technologies such as, Blue Yonder (OMS), Manhattan Active (WMS), SAP (Transportation, BTP, Logistic, etc.)
  • Proficiency in programming languages and technologies, along with experience in configuration management tools.
  • Experience in an Agile development environment, with familiarity in DevOps practices and tools.
  • Familiarity with database technologies (SQL and NoSQL) and their application in system design.
