Role Summary:
The Product Manager – Digital Solutions is responsible for the design, development, enhancement, and continuous improvement of Fastfrate Group’s customer-facing shipping systems, digital tools, and related technology-enabled products.
This role serves as the primary business liaison between customers, Sales, Operations, Marketing, and Technology, to identify customer and business needs and translate them into clearly defined product requirements and system functionality.

The Product Manager will lead the development of business requirements, user stories, process flows, functional specifications, acceptance criteria, product roadmaps, and feature priorities for new and existing shipping systems.
The role will have direct ownership of the business requirements and product development roadmap for Fastfrate Group customer shipping systems and will work closely with Technology and development teams throughout product design, development, testing, implementation, and continuous improvement.

- Ensure shipping systems effectively support Fastfrate Group transportation, logistics, warehousing, distribution, customs, and supply chain services.
- Identify opportunities to create a more consistent and integrated digital customer experience across Fastfrate Group operating companies.
Product Design & Customer Experience
- Lead the definition and design of new product and digital features and functionality.
- Map current-state and future-state customer journeys and shipping workflows.
- Identify customer pain points, unnecessary process steps, system limitations, and opportunities for automation.
- Develop functional concepts and product designs that improve usability, efficiency, accuracy, and customer experience.
- Work with UX/UI designers, developers, Technology teams, and external partners to develop wireframes, prototypes, workflows, and system designs.
- Ensure digital solutions are intuitive and designed around the needs of customers, Sales, Customer Service, Operations, and other users.
- Promote consistency in navigation, terminology, workflows, and user experience across Fastfrate Group digital platforms.
- Benchmark Fastfrate Group shipping systems against transportation, parcel, logistics, and digital shipping platforms to identify best practices and emerging functionality.
Business Requirements Development
- Lead the development of detailed business requirements for new systems, features, enhancements, and integrations.
- Conduct requirements-gathering sessions with customers, Sales, Operations, Customer Service, Finance, Marketing, Technology, and other stakeholders.
- Translate business needs and customer problems into clear and actionable system requirements.
- Develop and maintain documentation including:
- Business Requirements Documents (BRDs)
- Functional requirements

Product Roadmap & Feature Prioritization
- Develop and manage the shipping-system product roadmap in alignment with Fastfrate Group customer, operational, commercial, and technology priorities.
- Maintain a prioritized backlog of new features, enhancements, defects, and customer requests.
- Evaluate proposed features based on factors including:

Customer & User Research
- Gather feedback from customers and internal users to understand system needs and identify improvement opportunities.
- Conduct interviews, workshops, surveys, and feedback sessions with customers and employees.
- Observe how customers and employees use existing shipping systems and identify friction points.
- Analyze customer support requests, system usage, complaints, feature requests, and other feedback to identify recurring issues and opportunities.
- Develop customer personas and user profiles for different shipping-system customer segments.
- Translate customer insights into product requirements and development priorities.
Technology & Development Collaboration
- Act as the primary business liaison between Fastfrate Group business functions and Technology teams for customer shipping-system development.
- Work closely with developers, IT teams, vendors, UX/UI resources, and integration partners throughout the development lifecycle.
- Participate in solution-design discussions and ensure proposed technical solutions address the underlying business requirements.
- Clarify requirements and resolve business questions during development.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, design reviews, development reviews, and product demonstrations where applicable.
- Review developed functionality against approved requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Identify business and customer impacts associated with proposed technical solutions.
User Acceptance Testing & Implementation
- Develop user acceptance testing requirements and test scenarios for new functionality.
- Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with appropriate business stakeholders and customer users.
- Validate that developed functionality meets approved business requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Document defects, gaps, and required changes identified during testing.
- Work with Technology and development teams to resolve issues prior to implementation.
- Support implementation planning, release readiness, training, communications, and customer adoption.
- Monitor system performance and customer feedback following implementation.
- Conduct post-launch reviews and identify opportunities for further improvement.
Shipping System Integration
- Identify opportunities to integrate Fastfrate Group shipping systems with customer platforms and third-party systems.
- Support the definition of business requirements for APIs, EDI, TMS integrations, e-commerce platforms, ERP systems, warehouse systems, and other customer technologies.
- Work with Technology and Operations to define required data exchanges, workflows, business rules, and exception handling.
- Ensure integration solutions support a seamless customer experience and reduce manual processes.
Product Analytics & Continuous Improvement
- Establish key performance indicators for digital shipping products and features.
- Monitor measures such as:
- Customer adoption
- Active users
- Digital shipment penetration
- Quote-to-book conversion
- Feature usage
- Transaction completion rates
- System errors
- Customer satisfaction
- Support requests
- Operational efficiency
- Revenue generated through digital channels
- Use system analytics and customer feedback to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Measure the impact of new features following implementation.
- Recommend enhancements based on product performance, customer behaviour, market developments, and business priorities.
Product & Market Intelligence
- Monitor developments in digital shipping, transportation technology, logistics technology, customer portals, transportation management systems, and supply-chain platforms.
- Benchmark Fastfrate Group customer shipping capabilities against major transportation and logistics providers.
- Identify emerging technologies and functionality that could improve the Fastfrate Group customer experience.
- Evaluate potential third-party technologies and platforms where appropriate.
- Translate market and technology developments into recommendations for the Fastfrate Group product roadmap.
We’re looking for someone who brings:
Education & Experience:
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Management information systems or related discipline is considered and asset.
- 3–5+ years of experience in product management, digital product development, business analysis, technology product ownership, transportation technology, or a related field.
- Experience developing business requirements and translating business needs into technology solutions.
- A Certified Product Manager with the Association of International Product marketing and Management is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience developing business requirements documents, user stories, functional requirements, process flows, use cases, and acceptance criteria.
- Experience participating in the design, development, testing, and implementation of digital products or software systems.
- Experience with customer portals, shipping systems, Transportation Management Systems, logistics platforms, e-commerce platforms, or similar transaction-based systems is strongly preferred.
- Experience within transportation, logistics, supply chain, warehousing, freight forwarding, customs brokerage, parcel, or related B2B industries is strongly preferred.
- Understanding software development lifecycles and Agile product-development methodologies.
- Experience working collaboratively with Technology teams, software developers, vendors, and business stakeholders.
- Experience with User Acceptance Testing and product implementation.
- Strong customer-experience, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience using product management, requirements management, workflow mapping, prototyping, or project management tools is an asset.
