About ShyftLabs

ShyftLabs is a data products and services company that partners with Fortune 500 organizations to solve complex business challenges through digital, data, and AI-driven solutions. We combine deep technical expertise with a consulting mindset to build scalable, enterprise-grade platforms and products that drive measurable business impact.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Principal Technical Product Manager to lead the strategy, roadmap, and execution of complex, technically sophisticated products and platforms.

This is a highly collaborative and hands-on role at the intersection of product, engineering, data, AI, and business strategy. You will translate ambiguous business and client needs into clear product direction while working closely with engineering and architecture teams to make informed technical and product trade-offs.

You will partner directly with Fortune 500 clients and internal technical leaders across cloud, data, and AI initiatives. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating at both the strategic and technical levels, able to define product vision and business outcomes while engaging deeply with engineers and architects on architecture, APIs, data, and delivery.

What You'll Do

    Product Strategy & Ownership
  • Own the end-to-end product strategy, vision, roadmap, and execution for one or more technical product lines.

  • Lead products through the full lifecycle, from discovery and problem definition through development, launch, adoption, and continuous improvement.

  • Translate business objectives, customer needs, and technical capabilities into clear product requirements, user stories, and prioritized backlogs.

  • Define product goals, KPIs, and success metrics to measure adoption, performance, and business impact.

  • Make informed prioritization decisions and balance business value, technical complexity, customer needs, and delivery timelines.

  • Technical Product Leadership
  • Partner closely with engineering, architecture, data, and AI/ML teams to assess feasibility, sequence delivery, and resolve technical trade-offs.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of underlying technical architecture, including cloud platforms, APIs, data platforms, integrations, and AI/ML systems.

  • Participate in technical design discussions and confidently communicate with engineers and architects without requiring technical translation.

  • Drive build-vs-buy decisions and help evaluate technologies, platforms, vendors, and technical approaches.

  • Identify technical risks, dependencies, and opportunities early and work cross-functionally to address them.

  • Client & Stakeholder Leadership
  • Serve as a senior product leader and primary product point of contact for Fortune 500 clients and stakeholders.

  • Lead discovery sessions, product workshops, roadmap discussions, and executive presentations.

  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes for executive and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Build alignment across clients, engineering teams, delivery teams, and internal leadership.

  • Manage competing priorities, expectations, scope, and timelines across multiple stakeholders.

  • Delivery & Team Leadership
  • Lead cross-functional product planning and delivery across distributed teams, including teams in Toronto and India.

  • Partner with engineering leadership to establish realistic delivery plans and ensure products are delivered against agreed objectives.

  • Remove roadblocks, manage dependencies, and maintain momentum in a fast-moving consulting and delivery environment.

  • Mentor and support junior Product Managers and Product Analysts as the team grows.

  • Establish and continuously improve product management practices, processes, and standards.

What You'll Bring

  • 8+ years of product management experience, including significant experience in technical, platform, data, or enterprise product management.

  • Proven experience owning the strategy and roadmap for data-intensive, cloud-based, AI/ML, or technically complex products.

  • Strong technical fluency with the ability to understand architecture diagrams, APIs, data contracts, integrations, and system dependencies.

  • Demonstrated experience partnering directly with enterprise or Fortune 500 clients, preferably within a consulting, technology services, or product-services environment.

  • Proven ability to take complex and ambiguous problems from discovery through production and measurable business outcomes.

  • Strong understanding of modern software development and product delivery methodologies.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to adapt between technical discussions with engineers and strategic conversations with executives.

  • Experience leading products and roadmaps across distributed, cross-functional, and cross-time-zone teams.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to prioritization and decision-making.

  • A bias toward action and ownership, with the ability to make sound decisions in environments where requirements and priorities are constantly evolving.

  • Ability to operate comfortably at both the strategic and execution levels.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with modern data platforms and technologies such as BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks, or Apache Spark.

  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.

  • Experience building or managing AI/LLM-powered products, including RAG, agentic workflows, or AI-powered automation.

  • Background in data products, analytics platforms, enterprise SaaS, or digital transformation.

  • Familiarity with APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, and modern application platforms.

  • Experience working with enterprise architecture, governance, compliance, security, or InfoSec review processes.

  • Experience working with emerging AI technologies and frameworks, including MCP-style architectures.

Salary Range

  • $130,000 - $160,000 (CAD)
