About the Job
This role sits on the Chorus Engineering team in Toronto, working on mission-critical backend systems that power our conversation intelligence platform. You'll be a technical anchor on the team, setting standards, driving architecture, and elevating the engineers around you.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and deploy architecture and implementation of mission-critical backend systems from inception to production
- Drive technical standards, architecture decision records, and actively participate in and elevate the quality of code reviews
- Improve the existing product and support large-scale system performance and reliability
- Mentor senior engineers through technical partnership, not direct management
- Build third-party integrations with major conference providers using SDKs
- 9+ years of hands-on software development experience using Python
- Proven experience with distributed systems software design
- Strong knowledge of RESTful API standards
- Proven experience in distributed microservices development
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure (AWS or GCP)
- Knowledge of industry best practices for package management and release cycles (CI/CD)
- Experience with NoSQL (MongoDB / Elasticsearch) and SQL databases
- Strong personal accountability and informal leadership skills
- Excellent communication skills
- BSc in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
