Overview:

As a Principal Engineer, you will take an active ownership role in leading several development teams in architecting, implementing, and managing Guidepoint’s growing Azure presence. The purpose of the role is to focus on delivering highly available, scalable enterprise PaaS-based solutions.

This position is hybrid in Toronto.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and support scalable web/API applications using.NET core and Azure Platform Services
  • Build new applications/services/platforms
  • Refactor legacy components using innovative/scalable platform
  • Scale systems to perform well in a growing data environment
  • Define and enforce best practice for software development
  • Participate in hiring and development on/offshore engineering teams
  • Participate in agile SDLC meetings with other engineering teams (Full-stack, QA, DevOps, and Product teams)
  • Design JSON payloads and various payload contexts
  • Decompose portions of the legacy application into APIs running on App Services.
  • Work with large database schemas that would include adding and updating tables and rows
  • Write Unit tests and documentation

What You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in a senior engineering role
  • In-depth knowledge of service-oriented architecture, object-oriented programming, MVC, and other design patterns
  • Understanding Git concepts such as branching, merging, pull requests, and conflict resolution utilizing Bitbucket or Github
  • Prior experience leveraging issue-tracking systems/wikis for documentation (Jira/Confluence)
  • Willingness to learn designing fault-tolerant architecture on cloud deployments (load balancing, clustering, reducing/eliminating single points of failure, etc)
  • Must be hands-on enough to code review and roll up sleeves as an individual contributor under force majeure. Yet effectively delegate and manage resources, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Have focus on operational excellence

Preferred Technical Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of experience developing software using C# and .NET tech stack
  • Hands-on experience with Azure platform services:
      • WebApps, WebJobs, Functions, API Management,
      • Service Bus, Event Grid, Azure SQL,
      • CosmosDb Key Vault, Azure DevOps,
      • Active Directory, ILB, Application Gateway/WAF,
      • Storage Account, Private Link
  • Comfort with Powershell, Ansible, Terraform, and ARM Templates are a plus.
  • Understanding using/crafting architecture diagrams in Visio or LucidChart
  • Maintain problem-solving skills and a proactive work style
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills
  • Independent contributor with drive
  • Collaborative and teamwork-oriented
  • Accountable for work and take ownership of tasks
  • Strategic thinker
  • Manages projects and uphold quality on a deadline
  • Exhibits judgement when it comes to prioritization and overall team management
  • Proven effective leadership skills
