Job Description

As a PR Specialist, your main focus will be to develop local plans that bring  global PR strategies to life. You will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with important press and influencers to generate increased exposure and cultural relevance for H&M in the sales market. You work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in Canada to identify new opportunities to build local press interest year-round that supports brand building and commerical priorities.

This on-site role reports into our Marketing Manager and is based out of our Toronto Support Office.

A Day in the Life

Working at H&M means no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will include the following responsibilities*

  • Develop and execute local PR plans based on global PR strategies and activations across various formats, including press releases, press trips, events and media outreach
  • Build and maintain relationships within fashion industry stakeholders including  media, influencers, celebrities
  • Support Brand PR and Talent manager to bring influencer relations, celebrity and ambassador programs to life
  • Provide routine assistance to Showroom and PR Specialist to ensure elevated showroom execution and assist with sampling
  • Identify new oppoerunities to ensure H&M remains relevant in the cultural conversation while simultaneously supporting commerical priorities
  • Manage relationship with agencies and partnerships with other external stakeholders, ensuring that delivery of results is aligned with business and brand/PR goals
  • Monitor and analyze PR performance, media coverage & sentiment, and campaign outcomes, providing insights and recommendations for improvement
  • Optimize yearly PR and Communications budget, applying a cost conscious and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Develop and execute PR and communication strategies and plans specific to Sales Market and in line with Global strategies and plans that strengthen the brand and support business objectives
  • Ensure all communications are aligned with brand values, customer centricity, and global guidelines
  • Collaborate closely with internal key collaborators to ensure consistency and maximize impact across channels
  • Stay updated on market trends and competitors within your functional expertise area
  • Act as a brand ambassador in all interactions, representing the company’s image and values in external engagements​

 

Qualifications

Who You Are:

  • Degree in Communications, PR, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong external communication and stakeholder management skills, with established network within the fashion industry
  • Skilled in digital and omni-channel PR communication
  • Experience in event management (planning and execution of activations)
  • Knowledge of latest fashion trends and insights
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages as required per market
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in PR and/or communications, preferably within fashion, retail, or consumer brands

Compensation: salary is $78,400 **
