Role Overview
The Report Developer will support the migration of a
large portfolio of operational reports from legacy systems to a modern
reporting and analytics platform. This role involves planning, assessment,
design, and development activities, working closely with project team members
and business stakeholders to modernize reporting solutions using Power BI
tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide
planning, assessment, and development support to migrate approximately 270
operational reports from legacy systems to a new enterprise reporting
solution.
- Collaborate
with the Project Manager and business stakeholders to evaluate existing
reports and identify opportunities for modernization.
- Migrate
report functionality to Power BI Desktop or Power BI Report Builder based
on project assessments.
- Participate
in reporting needs assessments to understand current report functionality
and design.
- Define
migration approaches in collaboration with the project team and
stakeholders, aligning reports with standard enterprise reporting features
or Power BI tools.
- Design
and develop migrated reports in Power BI, ensuring alignment with
accessibility and reporting standards (e.g., WCAG 2.0 Level AA).
- Troubleshoot
and resolve issues identified during pre‑release testing of reports and
dashboards.
- Prepare
and maintain required project documentation to support migration
activities and knowledge transfer.
- Participate
in and support ongoing knowledge transfer activities throughout the
project lifecycle.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Demonstrated
working knowledge of Power BI Desktop and Power BI Report Builder (minimum
2 years of experience).
- Demonstrated
working knowledge of SQL query languages (e.g., T‑SQL, PL/SQL) with a
minimum of 4 years of experience.
- Demonstrated
working knowledge of DAX programming (minimum 2 years of experience).
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience
building, testing, and implementing complex reports, dashboards, and data
visualizations.
- Ability
to provide technical guidance and subject‑matter expertise on report
implementation.
- Experience
designing and building data models optimized for business intelligence and
analytics.
- Experience
with financial data reporting and data reconciliation.
- Prototyping
experience to support the development of business requirements for future
implementations.
- Experience
analyzing, designing, building, and testing databases based on business
requirements.
- Experience
designing functional test plans and technical deployment strategies.
- Experience
researching, documenting, prototyping, designing, building, testing, and
implementing advanced analytics and business intelligence solutions.
- Experience
integrating data models with third‑party systems.
- Experience
with ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory and Microsoft SSDT.
Evaluation Criteria
Technical Knowledge (50%)
- Experience
writing Transact‑SQL (T‑SQL) queries (minimum 4 years).
- Experience
designing and developing reports and dashboards using Power BI Desktop and
Power BI Report Builder (minimum 2 years).
- Experience
writing DAX code, performing data modeling, and implementing Power BI
functionality (minimum 2 years).
- Experience
working with ETL and data integration tools.
Analytical and Problem‑Solving Skills (30%)
- Proven
ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a business
intelligence environment.
- Ability
to analyze data, resolve data quality issues, and validate reports.
- Experience
delivering complex reporting and analytics solutions.
Communication Skills (20%)
- Strong
oral, written, interpersonal, and consultative communication skills.
- Experience
working collaboratively within a team environment, communicating progress,
risks, and issues.
- Experience
preparing documentation and delivering effective knowledge transfer to
technical and non‑technical audiences.
Knowledge Transfer Expectations
- Document
all technical designs, configurations, scripts, and reporting assets
developed during the assignment.
- Share
best practices, workarounds, and lessons learned with project team
members.
- Transfer
knowledge through meetings, documentation repositories, and ongoing
collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
