OVERVIEW:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Portfolio Manager to join our dynamic and transforming Enterprise Project Management Office. Reporting to the Director, EPMO, this position is accountable for overseeing the successful delivery of enterprise projects and programs in alignment with corporate priorities and project delivery best practices. In collaboration with project, technology, and business leadership, this role ensures all projects maximize value while balancing project constraints and interdependencies.  The Portfolio Manager works closely with leaders across the company to ensure projects deliver the strategic and operational advantages envisioned by the business.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Be an inspirational leader and coach to develop and retain high performing individuals, and contribute to a positive team culture.

  • Be the steward of a healthy and productive project pipeline. Effectively manage delivery of quality solutions according to ABC’s project management methodology and practices, and adhering to security and audit compliance standards.

  • Build trusted partner relationships with business and technology leaders to maintain effective project governance, and to deliver on defined targeted outcomes.

  • Effective management of project interdependencies and critical paths across the enterprise.

  • Interpret project proposal artifacts (business cases, preliminary estimates) together with available resourcing to assess organizational impact should a new project get approved.

  • Assess the impact of other corporate priorities or urgent initiatives on the portfolio and develop strategies to address identified impacts.

  • Proactively mitigate project deviations, challenges, and risks, and help clear barriers to efficient delivery across the enterprise project portfolio. Communicate and raise project challenges in a timely manner.

  • Assess and provide frequent updates on status and financials of projects within the portfolio.

  • Ensure projects maintain alignment with corporate strategy, operational plans, and established enterprise architecture practices and roadmaps.

  • Be accountable for efficient resource allocation and effective utilization.

  • Together with your business and IT partners, ensure projects are realizing expected benefits.

  • Track and report on portfolio performance, ensuring projects remain within financial, schedule, and scope constraints, and in alignment with corporate strategy.

WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:

  • A degree or diploma in a related discipline. Technical degree preferred.

  • A project management designation (PMP, PRINCE2, PMI-ACP, etc.) is required. PgMP, PfMP designation and/or Agile certification is an asset.

  • A minimum of five years of demonstrable experience in portfolio management and/or delivery management with technology-based and business-focused initiatives. Preference given to experience delivering software solutions in complex technology environments.

  • Proven ability to manage portfolio level financials, including budgeting, forecasting and detailed performance analysis.

  • Solid understanding of techniques and innovations in project management to enable continuous improvements in delivery.

  • Strong understanding of portfolio management frameworks, methodologies, and tools.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and make data-driven decisions.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Demonstrated strengths in negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills coupled with strong verbal and written communication and demonstrated commitment to customer experience.

  • Commitment to the development of a professional team that is accountable for delivery and results.
