Job Summary:

As a member of the Portfolio Management team at Central 1 Asset Management Services (AMS), the Portfolio Management Analyst supports the Portfolio Manager in the oversight and management of the Mandatory Liquidity Pool (MLP) and excess liquidity mandates for several Credit Unions. The role is focused on Canadian-dollar fixed-income liquidity portfolios, investing primarily in High-Quality Liquid Assets (HQLA) on behalf of Central 1 clients.
 

This is a developmental role designed to provide hands-on experience and build core competencies in fixed-income portfolio management, trading, credit analysis, and client relationship management. The position offers a structured growth path, with the opportunity to progress into an Assistant Portfolio Manager role as skills and experience are developed.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assist in monitoring and analyzing fixed income portfolios, including performance, positioning, and risk metrics

  • Support research on market conditions, sectors, and issuers to inform investment decisions

  • Assist in preparing trade analysis, summaries, and required documentation for execution

  • Monitor market activity, including pricing, liquidity, and relevant developments

  • Support credit monitoring by tracking rating agency actions, news, and financial results

  • Prepare regular portfolio reports, dashboards, and analytics for internal and client use

  • Assist in maintaining and improving reporting processes and analytical tools

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Operations, Risk, and Treasury Services

  • Assist in preparing materials for client meetings and presentations

  • Respond to routine inquiries with guidance from senior team members

What you’ll have:

  • Minimum 1–3 years of relevant experience with exposure to financial markets or asset management

    • Foundational knowledge of fixed income markets

    • Strong analytical and quantitative skills

    • Demonstrated ability to interpret financial data

    • Proficiency in Excel; experience with Bloomberg is an asset

    • Experience with VBA and Python for data analysis or automation is an asset

    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment

    • High attention to detail and ability to follow directions

  • Education & Designations

    • Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, or related field

    • Progress toward the CFA designation is an asset

  • Regulatory & Professional Requirements:

    • Willingness and ability to pursue relevant industry registrations or designations as required

    • Maintain awareness of applicable regulatory guidelines and internal policies

Salary range: $85,000-$110,000

The salary represents the job rate determined for the successful candidate who is fully competent in the role. The actual salary will vary depending on market conditions and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training
