Job Summary:

The Plant Manager is accountable for the overall manufacturing processes as well as the physical facility. This includes accountabilities for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, and all aspects of continuous improvement. Serve as the key interface with a variety of support personnel including R&D, Engineering, Technical Services, Sales, Customer Service and Logistics internally/ externally. Scope of the job hours of operations 7am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday with “On Call” 24 hours availability.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe and engaging environment for all employees. Ensure that all systems and processes are followed and adhere to proper workplace safety procedures and metrics tracking. Support ISO 14001.
  • Ensure that all systems and processes are followed to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction including achieving delivery and quality KPIs. Support development and maintenance of ISO 9001.
  • Accountable to deliver cost and productivity targets including inventory accuracy.
  • Champion Carlisle Operating System implementation. Lead or support improvement initiatives in all aspects of the operations.
  • Creating an environment for success among supervisory and production employees. It is imperative that the Plant Manager convey an attitude that is positive and confident. He/she must direct the staff to achieve their highest level of performance while treating them with respect and dignity.
  • Lead or support site organizational and leadership development initiatives to develop our talent, organizational systems, and proper succession planning.
  • Lead or support employee engagement initiatives.
  • Manage labour relations, involvement in union contract negotiations and handling of grievances
  • Interaction with the rest of the company. Engage with purchasing, environmental, health & safety, engineering, human resources, and corporate staff. The Plant Manager will be called upon to be the local expert for their plant regarding these topics.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and products as well as quality systems and associated literacy of SPC, SOP’s, process specifications etc.
  • Knowledge of government regulations as they relate to people, plant and process operations such as ESA, OSHA, Human Rights Code, AODA  WSIB, EPA and unemployment.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Financial and accounting familiarity including budgeting, cost control, financial data and project justification and ACE Process.
  • Overall understanding of the logistics process including raw material and finished goods shipments and customer service.
  • Labour relations experience
  • Strong knowledge and experience with MS Office Suite
  • Strong knowledge and experience working in an ERP system, preferably SAP
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to speak in front of groups and make effective presentations.
  • Good organizational skills along with effective time management.
  • Ability to effectively delegate to subordinates and others in supporting roles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle stress and make decisions under a variety of challenging circumstances.

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering field or Business Related Area.
  • 10+ Years of Experience in a manufacturing position, or plant operations.
  • Travel will be required up to 15% of the time supporting to other sites or meetings.

Working Conditions:

  • Environment is generally an office and manufacturing setting.
  • Monday through Friday although weekends may be required to meet production demands in the busy seasons.
  • This position requires the person to be “On Call” due to the nature of the operation. The 24-hour nature of the operation involves situations that need to be answered or advised regardless of the time of day.

Additional Information:

This position typically operates during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Occasional flexibility may be required to accommodate meetings across time zones or address critical business needs. The employee is expected to comply with all company policies, including those related to data security, confidentiality, acceptable use of technology, and remote work standards.


This is a fully onsite position. The employee is expected to be physically present at their designated work location during scheduled hours. In-person attendance is essential for collaboration, access to onsite resources, and the performance of job responsibilities. Employees must comply with all site-specific safety, security, and conduct policies.


Periodic travel may be required for team meetings, training sessions, or company-sponsored events, with advance notice provided. Travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with the company’s travel and expense policy.
